I'm glad I found this

The day I saw it, I got it, and yes, it was everything that I expected. The description is very accurate, so I recommend you to read it before you decide on getting it, because that's exactly what it will be about. However, going in depth in all these topics is what was really worth it.

Perfect

This book is super long, but it's not an amateuristic book. It's high quality and consists of some very interesting topics. That's all I have to say about that. (And yes, I almost quoted Forest Gump there). This is better than the single books. This is the best deal. This is a lot of content for your credit, so if you don't have to pay full price, just take a look at this.

Diverse topics

What I liked about this book:

The topics varied so much, from synesthesia to Alzheimer's to the placebo effect. Hypnotherapy surprised me, since I hardly knew anything about it. Read the description of the book and you'll know the subtopics it will go over. I was intrigued, and the length is a good deal for your credit. I also thought the narrator sounded professional and nice to listen to. All in all, I was impressed.

What I didn't like: Some of the topics were less interesting to me. I skipped over a few paragraphs because it wasn't something I would ever want to know more about, but then it was made up for by the topics that are more relevant in my life.

Loved the combo value

This is a long book, so great with a credit. I am trying to mention something bad about this audiobook, but I can not. It's just way too good. So without more exaggeration, I just believe everybody should think of listening to it.

This was worth it

This was worth my credit. Look at the length. Yeah, it's a longer book. So there is one reason. Another reason: Great narrator. Clare is a professional. Last reason: There is some really interesting stuff in here, things you can learn from, and that will give you more insights in how you are thinking and why, as well as others.

Wasted time

Couldn’t finish the book. Bad translation sentences that didn’t make sense. Miss pronunciation of words and more. Misleading
it is not about brain science at all. Author switch is from third person to first person to second person confusing.

Please Edit

I would suggest that you don't waste your time or money on this title. This book has obviously not been properly edited before being published. The reader does the best they can with what they have but it is not worth your time. There are very obvious mistranslations occurring and it makes for difficult listening and understanding. Additionally, this book puts forth some very misguided ideas on the use of placebo medications by primary care physicians. I want to be clear, PCP's do not utilize placebos to treat their patients. Yes, placebos are used in research but medical doctors who are primary care physicians do not use them! I was unable to get through the first section of this book due to the editing errors and misinformation so I cannot speak to the other two sections.

HORRIBLE! Obviously a bad, bad translation.

it was pretty clear from the very start of this book that the grammar was going to be poor. I've trudged through books that had rather serious grammar flaws, but most of them can be overlooked provided they are not too glaring and not too frequent - especially if the content is worthwhile. It rapidly became clear that this particular book was a translation from some other language. From figures of speech and other clues, I suspect India region. "Sally Stephens" indeed.

Had this rough translation then been given to a competent English editor, things may have been better. Experts that don't speak English as a primary language manage to create good English content all the time - primarily by recognizing if they need regional localization expertise for translations. Instead, this horrible original content with horrible translation artifacts was then given straight to a reader. And if this reader was not a text-to-speech program, it (she, "Claire Radix"?) was pretty damn close. The narration reminded me of those click-bait YouTube videos that are put together by someone with only a passing knowledge of a subject (mostly culled from Wikipedia with the talent of a mediocre high schooler), which they then throw into a text to speech program to narrate their video. I honestly expect more from the Audible selection committee.

What made it so much worse was that there was absolutely no effort to correct horribly glaring grammatical errors, and they appear constantly. Constantly! Sentences that no English speaking 10 year old would utter, because they know it just doesn't sound even close to right. I could never tear focus from the horrible errors in every sentence long enough to decipher the actual content. Even fast-forwarding to areas that I was interested in hearing about, I just couldn't make it through the horrible grammar and lack of correction of glaring mistakes.

This is one of the few times I am returning a book as being utterly without any redeeming value whatsoever. Certainly not as an educational tool.
