About this listen

Monster.

That's what they call me.

Lock your doors, hold your loved ones tight. The Carver is on the loose.

Except I'm not. I was caught.

The days of allowing my inner depravity to run wild are over. I've been sent to prison for good, something of a celebrity in this dark, dank hell-hole they call Alabaster Penitentiary. The only thing I have left to offer the world is my story, and unfortunately for me, the Warden has the rest of my life to get it out of me. Being poked and prodded, examined and tested on isn't something I enjoy very much. Until they send him...The new doctor is here to study me and my crimes. And I'm beginning to think we might not be as different as it seems. He craves knowledge the way I crave the blood of my victims. Despite his robotic nature, there's just something about him... Something I want. But I'll have to be careful not to smother it to death. After all... It's kind of my thing.**Brainwashed is a dark MM doctor-patient romance, an interconnected standalone in the Alabaster Penitentiary series. While it follows a new couple, we strongly recommend you read Volumes 1-2 first to avoid spoilery situations. This book has true crime elements that may make some readers uncomfortable. Please proceed with caution.**"

A Dark And Gripping MM Romance

Brainwashed is a wickedly delightful romance between a psychopath and his psychiatrist. I loved seeing both of these men unravel while falling for each other. It’s a delicious Slowburn, I enjoyed the narration they brought the characters to life.

GREAT STORY.. Dr. Love Narration horrible

I loved the story. Dark and beautiful all at once. but the Narrator for Dr. Love, while Love's voice was great every other character he voiced, outside of the warden, was awful. he made the Carver sound like a pimplely teenager. it was cringe af. There has to be someone who reviews these before giving the thumbs up. at least there should be. and his pronunciation of the band Depeche Mode. 🤦🏾‍♀️ He butchered it everytime he attempted to say the word. I can't say enough how bad it was. however Felix aka the Carver was great. I truly enjoyed this narrator and each character he voiced. he saved the listen for me. if he was bad, I would've just read the book on ku whenever I got the chance.

I fell in love with the psycho

Simply wow. This is a dark story and not for everyone, which I understand entirely. I love the author, writing style, and the complexity of her characters. It starts slow/moderate, but she keeps you intrigued; this comes from someone who doesn’t enjoy slow burns. But once you reach the halfway point….everything turns upside down, and chaos unfolds, which I love. The author uses elements and tropes that I particularly don’t like, but she made works. The narrator for Felix gave him life, but not a fan of Doctor Love's narrator

2 psychos in a therapy room, they might kiss.

5/5⭐️ 3.5/5🌶️ 4/5🎧
Audiobooke Review: Every time I listen to an AP book, I think to myself…this one is definitely my fave. But I’m so serious this time. I’m actually in love with Dr. Love and The Carver! That sweet little psycho stole my heart in the beginning and never let go. I thought at first…how is this going to play out? Dr. Love is strange…awkward. Felix was obsessed with being wanted. I will say this is a book you don’t really realize where the turning point is because the transition is so freaking smooth. One minute you think there’s no way this could happen, and the next, you’re like hollllyyyy helllllll!

The chemistry between Felix and Lem was freaking scorching! As always, no one does spice quite like Nyla!
Omg the ultrasound. Iykyk 🫨🫨🫨

Anyway, Brainwashed was also super intriguing because you get into the mindset of a serial killer. It’s fascinating. You also get to see how the doctor became obsessed with how his mind worked. There’s no one quite like The Carver. This is one of those books that will stay with me for a while.

The narrators, Walker Williams and Brent Billings did such an amazing job bringing the inner psycho to these characters. I couldn’t get enough!

Favorite Quotes:
“What are you doing to me, wicked one?”

“You know what it looks like?”
“What’s that?”
“It looks like I own you, sick boy. You’re my monster.”

“Take this d!ck good, my sweet little psycho.”

“I’ve never tasted anything like you.”
“It’s the flavor of evil.”
“It’s delicious.”

Want ❤️ Need

“It turns out I am afraid of him. Afraid that when he carves my heart out of my chest, he’ll just throw it away.”

I didn’t expect to like this book as much as I did. I was honestly gonna skip it and wait for book 4 since I thought this one would be way too dark for me… but here I am. I can’t believe Nyla K made me care this much about the happiness of a serial killer. I’m very glad I decided to listen to this book after all.
It’s also cool how some of my lingering questions about book 1 were answered in this one. Like how Dash knew how to escape and how he knew about Velle’s boat.

Can’t wait for the next book!

Siiiiiiccckkk but intriguing

I will say you need to have an open mind when reading this book considering you get an insight into a serial killer and how he killed but it’s so interesting 😂 and wicked af like some of the scenes are so deranged I can’t help but to laugh bc wtf 💀 i didn’t know where this book was heading and that’s what kept me going(and the spice) . I will def say read any warning there are for the book bc there are scenes that could be triggering. Nyla k you have done it again. Can’t wait until more of her books are on audible! The narrator for Lem did a weird voice for Darcy but once you get past that the performance is good.

Awesome Story & Listen🎧 Engrossing & Addictive!

It is great to be back in Alabaster Penitentiary for another amazing romance novel, a dark and twisted mind-blow that is addictive and hard to pull away from because you just need to know what happens next. Nyla K. is a gifted author with a brilliant mind, a deviously brilliant mind, and I mean that in the best of ways. Her descriptive writing and details take you right alongside these characters, giving you a bird's-eye view of everything they are thinking and experiencing, putting you in the room where it happens. This third book is Felix Darcey’s story, Alabaster’s resident serial killer, aka the carver. Alabaster is an unconventional prison and a lot of unconventional things go on, and Blanco, the ward in charge, recruits another doctor to work with Darcey. Dr. Lemuel “Lem” Love is tired of his life and when offered an opportunity to work with one of the most notorious serial killers, he couldn’t refuse. Lem did not exactly fit in with the other doctors, but he avoided them as much as possible. Felix was not a fan of the other doctors or their treatment either and was looking forward to working with the new doctor, Dr. Love. OMG, it was great to watch Lem get into Felix’s head and hear everything he did, his logic in regards and his fixation on killing. Felix is crushing on the doctor who is straight, but there is no doubt about the chemistry between them, though Lem denies it and refuses to go there. Felix gets into Lem’s head and he questions his own needs and preferences. I loved how everything played out in this book, the writing, plot and world building are phenomenal, as are the character growth and development. This book may take some out of their comfort zone, and the author warms to proceed with caution. I say go in with an open mind and enjoy the wild ride. I got some Silence of the Lamb vibes, except Clarice was a male and Hannibal had a crush and was looking for more, and then add some more insanity to the story and kink, too. Nyla K., thank you for another amazing story and wild ride.

🎧📚🎧Walker Williams and Brent Billings did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Brent Billings is a “new to me” narrator, while it took me a while to get used to his pacing and delivery, and once I did, I was hooked. He nailed it as Dr. Love, grasping every aspect of his personality, transformed as his character did as the story went on. Walker Williams delivered in his role as Darcey, playing the perfect sociopath. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fantastic listen.

The Carver and Dr Love

Brainwashed- Nyla K
Narrated by Walker Williams and Brent Billings

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

I love Felix and Love so much. Felix must be protected by all means necessary. He’s a psycho murderer but he makes you want to just hold him and make sure no one can hurt him. Dr Lem Love was an interesting character. I didn’t know how a romance was going to develop because he just seemed so professional as Felix’s psychologist. This book in general was such a work of art the way Nyla was able to make these characters that were so improbable to come together romantically but they do in spite of their professional relationship. The spice is taboo and so delicious.

The narration is absolutely incredible. These narrators were a perfect casting. It was so easy to envision the characters by their voices. This is the first I’ve heard either of these narrators and I hope I get to listen to more of their work.
