About this listen

Epic fantasy writer and New York Times best seller Brandon Sanderson joined us in the Audible Studios to discuss Oathbringer, the third book in his Stormlight Archive, and he revealed his process for getting his books just right. Brandon also spoke about how others can sometimes discover that they're writing in the wrong genre and told us about the books he has unpublished.

Known for his thrilling imagination, immensely prolific writing and, of course, the creation of the Cosmere universe, in which all of his books are connected, Brandon Sanderson is a force to be reckoned with in the world of fantasy. With Oathbringer we get a return to a planet swept by apocalyptic storms and a world tipping into war as aristocratic families move to control ancient artefacts from a past civilisation that can win wars.

Brandon Sanderson got supreme world building, plot is somewhat epic standard for me, only from his characters I've got a feeling of sort of naivity, bit simpleness and bluntness, not that they don't have full and diverse life, but probably the inner life is actually - quite normal? Not great, not terrible. I still credit this to Brandon´s Mormon faith, which from my experience sort of simplify ones worldview - but I dont know Brandon personally of course (and his work is still epic!). Nevertheless I I read almost all his main storylines and I want to read all his work, overall I find it very entertaining.

Supreme world building indeed

I enjoyed listening Mr. sanderson's take on writting, I'm getting into writing in my mid 40s I think I agree with him about the points he mention, when things don't flow organically, and you toss it to the side and start over :), that's so true ha ha
