Story
Innovations rarely come from “experts.” Elon Musk was not an “electric car person” before he started Tesla. When it comes to improbable innovations, a legendary tech VC told Sebastian Mallaby, the future cannot be predicted, it can only be discovered. It is the nature of the venture-capital game that most attempts at discovery fail, but a very few succeed at such a scale that they more than make up for everything else. That extreme ratio of success and failure is the power law that drives the VC business, all of Silicon Valley, the wider tech sector, and, by extension, the world.

Very easy to read
Very easy and small book to read. The only problem is that the charts/ info from the book is hard to find online.

The Venture Capital Manual
Many thanks to Bradley Miles for putting this book together. The print version of the book has over 90 five star reviews so I had to grab a copy of the audiobook.
Bradley takes you through the terminology of venture capital and the basic formulas for understanding how to determine the present value of a company, and its projected value over the next few years. This knowledge is critical for landing a job at a venture capital firm, but also for entrepreneurs who want to understand where their company is right now, and where it's going.
I wish I had this book seventeen years ago when I opened my first business with some family members. Bradley makes it easy to understand exactly where a company is at, and if an investment is worth it.
Funny that I was just watching The Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon, and his character works at a venture capital firm. Of course, there's Shark Tank and the television show, The Profit, so we can see that the popularity of venture capital is skyrocketing.
As Bradley says, it's time to break into venture capital. Get the audiobook, you'll love it. Great narration too. John's voice is perfect for this kind of content.
Thanks Bradley!

Easy to understand
Would you listen to #BreakInto VC again? Why?
Yes, I would listen to Break Into VC again because there's a number of formulas for understanding how to determine whether or not a business will be a profitable investment, and I don't think one listen is enough.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened to this book in five sittings. I think its appropriate for a book like this to let things sink in.
Any additional comments?
If you're not familiar with the inner-workings of venture capital, then this is the audiobook to get. This is not an elementary school introduction, but it is presented in such a way that someone completely unfamiliar with the subject can jump in and wrap their head around it. Some books and websites forget that not everyone is familiar with the terminology and the methodology of venture capital. Bradley starts you off on a nice foundation and builds upon that foundation little by little. A great guidebook on the subject, and the narrator was perfect for the subject matter.

Internship book
This book is geared towards college cats and people looking for internships at venture capital firms. There were some good points in the beginning, but later on it was information I just didn't find useful; its more suited for someone trying to land a job at a capital investment firm.

Easy read, for college students
An interesting and easy listen in the form of a “how to” guide for beginning a career in Venture Capital. Only downfall is that at times it feels too heavily aimed at college students or those seeking an internship.

For Business Owners, Investors, Students, and more
If you could sum up #BreakInto VC in three words, what would they be?
Manual For Success
What was one of the most memorable moments of #BreakInto VC?
I like how he broke down the formulas for assessing the value of a company, and how you can project those numbers to see where the company will likely be in the near future.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
You can easily listen to this audiobook in one sitting, but I suggest periodically pausing it to take notes, and to practice the various math formulas that are given.
Any additional comments?
I really wouldn't change anything about this. The narrator was fantastic. I get a sense that he's not the kind of guy that goes on vacation and blows people off, but dedicates himself to mastering the craft of voice over narration.
Bradley's information is solid, and I can imagine he's going to be a rising star in the world of investments, but I hope his success isn't going to go to his head, and he'll continue to teach us "little people" these skills.
This is a great place to start in understanding venture capital. Even if you're just planning to open your own business, this book is excellent; it will give you an understanding of how a "shark" looks at a business. Think like a shark and get this audiobook.

The Big Picture of Possibilities
Shark Tank has really put venture capital on the map, but I was compelled to understand how the sharks think, rather than be a mere viewer. Granted, you can learn a lot from the show, and there are many websites now on the subject, but Bradley puts everything together in this audiobook. The narrator was an exceptional choice as well. His pronunciations are clear, and his delivery of the information could have been dry, lifeless and monotone, but it is alive and enjoyable to listen to. Invest the money in this title; it's an investment in yourself.

Really bad
I know... My mistake... I just looked at the cover... This book has no value and it’s mostly childish... and I didn’t even have to stomach to listen it entirely. So if you have never heard about VCs then this might be for you. For others get any other book...

Even worse than reading acronyms online
I have been listening to this audiobook for the last 2 hours, and I'm already frustrated.
The physical book might actually be useful when the narrator throws a bunch of acronyms at you, the "official" breakintovc.com website is down, so all the references in the book are useless.
The first chapter kind of gives you raw ideas of where to start, but then it's just vague, I didn't like that in many parts of the audiobook the author says "this will make you look smart", and probably that was the primary goal of this book regardless if it's useful or not.
I might finish the book "just because" and will change my review if something drastically changes, but I doubt it.
