About this listen

Lake County Minnesota Sheriff Dave Trask and his identical twin brother Don, Lead Investigator for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, were bored. Their fishing trip to northern Minnesota had been hijacked by the weather leaving them with time on their hands. A poster for a long-missing girl attracts their attention and the brothers decide to look at the old case files to fill their time.

The Trasks return to fishing once the weather improves, but they can't escape the sense that there is something more to the disappearance than they see in the case files, especially after their lives are threatened. Don assigns one of his Duluth agents, Danny Carlisle, to look into the missing girl's background. Carlisle's investigation leads her to the University of Minnesota in Duluth where she finds her inquiries stonewalled, and her life soon placed in danger.

Meanwhile, the Trask brothers follow other leads pointing them to the real possibility that a serial killer is roaming northern Minnesota, abducting young women who never come home.

Readers of John Sanford, Jeffrey Deaver, Michael Connelly, William Kent Krueger and alike will enjoy this gripping murder mystery detective thriller. Newly edited.

Liked the story. Like all the details and descriptions. I can picture the scenes as they happen.

The storyline was great! However the AI feature leaves the reading lacking due to no feeling, no alternating voices & mispronounced words.

Story kept jumping around. AI voice with accent on wrong part of sentence made it hard to listen.

Choppy

"She was diagnosed with add" LOL! Not 'A D D". One small example. I hate virtual voice. There is no nuance, no HUMOR, no irony, no pathos. It is mechanical, duh.

Virtual voice SUCKS.

I listened to the whole book, but I couldn’t get into the story. I was happy when it was over.

Nothing stood out.

The story was okay, but the virtual voice ruined the whole thing. Is Amazon just using it to make more money?

Virtual voice ruins the whole story

Story was good but A1 narration ruined it No emotion, very bland. Even the worst human narrator would have been better.

Terrible narration

Storyline was just ok. The virtual voice narration done by computer was quite impressive at first, but after a while it became very monotone and repetitive. It's hard to describe the tiny inflections that are lost but I started to zone out at the end of the book.

Computerized narrator gets to be very tedious

Voice had no emotions when narrating. Absolutely agitating. Couldn't get into the story. AI

AI voice Horrible

It’s hard to pay attention to the book with this robotic voice. I hope this won’t be the norm. I would have to go back to reading.

Artificial Voice Sucks
