About this listen

From the RITA award-winning author of Five Days in Skye comes a sweet, romantic treat that will leave you hungry for more.

Baker and pastry chef Melody Johansson has always believed in finding the positive in every situation, but seven years after she moved to Denver, she can’t deny that she’s stuck in a rut. One relationship after another has ended in disaster, and her classical French training is being wasted on her night job in a mediocre chain bakery. Then the charming and handsome private pilot Justin Keller lands on the doorstep of her workplace in a snowstorm, and Melody feels like it’s a sign that her luck is finally turning around.

Justin is intrigued by the lively bohemian baker, but the last thing he’s looking for is a relationship. His own romantic failures have proven that the demands of his job are incompatible with meaningful connections, and he’s already pledged his life savings to a new business venture across the country - an island air charter in Florida with his sister and brother-in-law.

Against their better judgment, Melody and Justin find themselves drawn together by their unconventional career choices and shared love of adventure. But when an unexpected windfall provides Melody with the chance to open her dream bakery-café in Denver with her best friend, chef Rachel Bishop, she’s faced with an impossible choice: Stay and put down roots with the people and place she’s come to call home...or give it all up for the man she loves.

Real and Emotional

I like Carla Laureano’s touch to Christian fiction. It’s not over the top, but slowly permeates her book. She is also authentic in showing how messy life is. Although it’s a romance, she doesn’t promise an easy happily ever after. She shows life and love take work and brings two broken people together for it.

Far more than expected,

Thank You to Carla Laureano for the exceptional writing, story and characters. Writing is obviously your God given passion. I can only hope to spend time in the future being blessed by another one of your creations!

The reading by Teri Schnaubelt reaches the same exceptional quality.

Thank You both for the perfect story at the perfect time for me!

May God bless you both!

I wasn't wanting a religious backed story

I found the conversation about this writer's religious beliefs, too intrusive. it would have been nice to know up front the character's decisions were God influenced. I probably wouldn't have ordered it.

Beautiful and Inspirational!

I absolutely adored this story! Incredibly real, pure, romantic with several surprises at every turn... Even up to the very end... very refreshing to read a romance novel with characters of conviction and mutual respect for each other.
,Thoroughly impressed with Carla Laureano and the narrator Teri Schnaubelt delivered it beautifully! I plan to read every one of her books now!

saw the train

The story was so straightforward that you could see the train coming down the tracks... from a mile away

Sane story

Though sweet and heart warming, this was a repeat of the first book...same plot, same adult blaming her life on her parents, finds perfect love, almost doesn’t recognize it, a few tortured few weeks, then they get together. I do appreciate the faith connection.
