About this listen

"Listeners will be transported to the small Southern town of Wicklow by the drawls and laid-back pacing of the narrators.... This is a beautiful story of family, love, and forgiveness." (AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner)

Heather Webber's Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe is a captivating blend of magical realism, heartwarming romance, and small-town Southern charm.

Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café.

It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.

As the truth about her past slowly becomes clear, Anna Kate will need to decide if this lone blackbird will finally be able to take her broken wings and fly.

Worth the listen

I little cheesy, in a good way, predictable and sweet. Sometimes it’s just nice to listen to a sweet story with a bit of drama and a happy ending.

Very good listen!

Great narration, and character development, and I cried. It was slow in places, so I had to listen at a higher speed. Was definitely worth sticking with-easy to listen to, even though predictable to me. I still loved the characters, and story. Worth the credit

Great Storyline

I really loved this book. Great Storyline. I really thought the narrator was fantastic. The only problem I had with this book was it was addicting and it really didn't give the story behind the black birds. I'm hoping the Author makes another book to keep this one going.

Pure escapist fun

Lovable characters and a sweet story that you don't care even if it's a little predictable. Strong Gilmore Girls vibes.

I LOVED IT!

This book has all of the markings of a Hallmark movie: drama, love, tenderness, despair, anger and forgiveness. I’ll look forward to listening to more books written by Heather Webber.

Awesome!

I absolutely loved this book! So far it is my favorite. The voice fluctuations for each character were excellent. And the people reading the characters were great. The writing as well was excellent. It really grabbed me and kept me interested the whole time. Can’t recommend it enough.

Sweet, charming and entertaining

I appreciated the storyline, although I had my predictions from the very beginning on what would eventually happen. Girl temporarily moves to a small town...girl has other plans...girl meets handsome guy...girl contemplates staying. Yes, BUT I loved how it wasn’t all about the romance. This book is about relationships between family members, friendships and community. The scattered bits of supernatural mystique make it a very fun and entertaining read. The narrators are believable, however, you have to go into this a willing victim of ear-cringing, southern-accent audio-animation. Some of it is like sand paper on the soul.
