About this listen

Sammy Raphael is a crappy witch, and on top of that, he can't seem to get a boyfriend. Where other supernaturals can bring down lightning and manifest wealth, Sammy can paint. Granted, the "prophetic" paintings he creates at night always come true, but they never predict anything important. Sammy feels like a total loser with a worthless ability.

One night he paints a gorgeous guy who turns out to be his secret crush, the human Ryder, but Ryder's changed so much he's almost unrecognizably beautiful. Then Sammy paints an angel who turns out to be a witch. But is that witch also a devil - a devil who can bring down Sammy's whole community and everyone he loves? And why the hell does Ryder keep changing? Aloysius, the black cat familiar, always backs a winner. So why is he backing Sammy?

Contains mature themes.

Cats are fun

Very entertaining but rushes over the plot. The characters are lovable and the cat steals the show. Real feel-good light hearted stuff.

sweet and creative

I really like the way this author weaves an interesting tale into the love story and has created fantasy elements that seamlessly blend into already established lore... it makes it easy to slip into the story without having to learn a whole new set of rules. Once again the narrator has created a bunch of delightful characters, that make you want to listen.

Good Story, Nice Performance by Kirt Graves

Brush with Catastrophe has a good story, I just didn't love the characters as much as in the first book. Next time I need a book shelved magic, I'll still be looking to read Cataclysmic Shift.

Nice work by Kirt Graves with all those miaows.

Fooled by the first book.

Ugh, so frustrating. The first book fooled me into thinking the next would be worth a credit but sadly it was not. The couple is cute but the story just seems childish with sex added in. No real character development, no depth to the story. Narration is good though.
