About this listen

An Orks novel

When Ufthak and his orks attack the forge world of Hephaesto, the last thing they want is to share the spoils with the notorious Kaptin Badrukk. But with armies to defeat and loot to seize, Ufthak's boyz might just need Badrukk's help - though that doesn't mean they can trust him....

Listen to it because: get into the heads of a band of orks in the first-ever novel from their point of view. Discover what it takes to be part of the Waaagh! and carve out your own little piece of glory amidst the mayhem in a novel that's brutal, kunnin' - and darkly hilarious.

The story: Ufthak Blackhawk and the green tide descend upon Hephaesto - an Adeptus Mechanicus forge world bristling with loot - only to find it already under siege by the notorious Freebooter Kaptin Badrukk. When his warboss, Da Biggest Big Mek, orders temporary co-operation, Ufthak seeks to make a name for himself by crushing some of the Imperium’s most advanced defenders and claiming the greatest prize. But with a sinister new war machine on the horizon, Badrukk’s plotting and a thoroughly annoying grot in his way, Ufthak is going to need the brutal kunnin’ of Mork himself just to survive.

the story was no special trip, but it was still enjoyable.

Propa story told by a propa git!

This is one wild ride!
Like all good storytelling in a serious situation, there is no absolute good or absolute evil...
The setup is mainly following Orks, (they speak and act like rowdy and drunken sports fans)
They are invading a planet ruled by “mechanicus” humans, super logical and cybernetically enhanced technophiles... you think these orks are being rude, then you realize that the humans are not really better...
There is lots of great intrigue on the side of the orks, they have “bad moons” clan, and “free boota flashy gits” who sound like pirates and dress is “gaudy magnificence” ... also intrigue with the “umies” (humans in Ork language). And there’s even a third super faction that appears...

Many plans get hatched
Many plans get foiled
Many orks are down right hilarious In their logic and reasoning
Very fun ride from beginning to end!

If it was solely from the ork perspective I wouldn’t mind, the laughs were a plenty! But having the other perspectives are what make this a more “propa story”

The voice acting? It starts off ok with the orks, and great with the humans, but ramps up to 11 with the orky shenanigans, and that is where the voice actor really shines for me... listening to orks discuss things with each other and yell at one another was an absolute riot.

Funny, Orky and a great listen.

One of the best Ork books in my opinion. It's what you can expect from a novel written from the green brutes perspective. Lots of stompin', lots of dakka, lots of WAAAGH. Well written, well performed and outright hillarious at times.

orks

If you enjoy ork lingo and bantering, it's a fun listen. I feel if I was reading the book, there would be whole paragraphs I could skip of the other co-story lines and not miss much. over all, the Orks were great!

Needs more dakka

It was an undeniably orky experience, of that there is no doubt. But there just needed to be less from the admech point of view. It’s nice to have context for the plot and thus bringing weight to the destructive actions of the orks, but I found myself getting frustrated when confronted by multiple full (and lengthy) chapters of monotone and droning dialogue in a book that’s supposed to be about krumpin’ da humies. With that said, the sections dedicated to the orks are incredibly fun and I really hope they do more of this style of book. Highly recommend for any true git.

Ork vs Robot umies

the story itself is fantastic, just not as much ork perspective as I'd hoped for

"listin up ya gits, dis ere is zoggin guud"

This was my second Ork book, and once again I enjoyed it very much.
previous reviews mention the glorification for Ad-Mech and in some sense its true, but it doesn't bother the story or me because (Spoiler alert) "them shoiny humies get a roight a'n proppa stompin"
Any true Ork fan or Ork lore fan, is going to appreciate this.
the narration is very nice and really brings out the story.
seriously considering converting and building my own "Ufthak"
