About this listen

The masters of American frontier storytelling return with the saga of a bold, fearless western legend. When you’re a gun for hire, the difference between right and wrong is settled with a bullet...

Crater City, New Mexico, is a bustling mining town brimming with the stench of men hungry to get rich the old fashioned way - killing the competition. Dennis Conroy is the owner of the biggest saloon in town, and he needs a few good sharpshooters to help protect surveyors laying out a route for a spur rail lie before his rival Hugh Thornton beats him to it. Jo Buckhorn’s handy with a gun so he takes the job.

Against his best advice, he’ll also take a liking to the boss’s daughter, which doesn’t go over well with her father. Worse, Buckhorn starts wondering exactly what kind of man he’s working for. Before the sun goes down much blood will be spilled and a lot of men will be blasted into the middle of next week. Joe Buckhorn aims to be sure he’s not one of them....

Performed by Ken Jackson, Tony Nam, Jeff Allin, Bruce Alan Rauscher, Andy Clemence, Bradley Smith, Amanda Forstrom, Matthew Schleigh, Eleanor Todd, Lily Beacon, Kimberly Gilbert, Michael Glenn, Nick DePinto, Michael John Casey, Andy Brownstein, Todd Scofield, Chris Stinson, Zeke Alton, Richard Rohan, Jason B McIntosh, Steven Carpenter, Dylan Lynch, Scott McCormick, Eric Messner, Matthew Ward, Terence Aselford, Chris Davenport, Drew Kopas, Jonathon Church, Nanette Savard.

Dramatized adaptation of Buckhorn

this reminds me of the old radio dramas that I used to listen to as a child growing up. this version brought everything into life and made the characters feel they were standing there and you were watching what was happening. I prefer to read this way.

Buckhorn

This is the first book in this series. Buckhorn starts out a gunslinger and turns to wanting to do what's right. I enjoyed the story line and I'll listen to the next book in the series. Buckhorn is tough and smart. He figures out how to set a trap for the bad guys. The narrators does a great job . If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below. Thank you

INTERESTING ATTEMPT

First, I thought the storyline was a lot like some other western stories by earlier writers. Even so, it was the redeeming aspect of the sad attempt to deliver emotional emphasis with sounds. I would strongly suggest getting some college students taking cinematography/sound production to review and clean up this audio. They can start with the overbearing audio at the start of chapter one, then delete the smart phone sounds at the planning session in chapter 5.
The idea of creating an audio movie is legit but you need a better crew .
