About this listen

Just the sight of Dustin Nikoli spiked fear in my heart. The memories of the things that he had put me through in high school made me want to run in the other direction. I was the dirt on the bottom of his shoes, my only purpose someone for him to torment.

No one else saw it. To his peers, he was a man's man. To all of the girls unaffected by his cruelty, a lust object. He was the hottest *sshole you could ever meet. Pretty face. Amazing body. Ugly on the inside.

I moved to another city for college to avoid him. I never expected that he would already be there. Maybe I should have done my research better.

The night that I ran into him couldn't have been any worse. He was the straw that broke the camel's back. I wasn't taking his crap anymore, though. I used my inebriation to give me courage and told him everything I thought about him. And then I ended up in his bed....

This is a stand-alone novel.

BEWARE THE BULLY

Be careful what you ask for, they say. Being 50 now, it drives me crazy to hear (in real life or in fictional setting) girls acting young/stupid crazy in love, but hell I did the same exact thing when I was that age. You learn by experience. So, taking that info consideration, I found myself immersed in the story, wondering who at times to root for. I always root for love. Loved the story, and the narration. :)
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Super cute yet realistic College romance

Sky Corgan did a fantastic job at describing the ups and downs of college experiences as it relates to making friends, trying to have fun (and sometimes miserably failing) and finding love in all the wrong and unexpected places. Brenna, the heroine, is a typical college freshman in search connecting with high school crush and we hear of her experiences while she attempts to make friends and date while balancing other new college stressors (frat parties, chemistry exams, dorm roommates....). The story was thorough, sweet, and felt real! I loved the ending and would like to see what happens to the couple in the future! :-) Great narration Ainslie Caswell. I’d definitely listen to hear narrate any book!

Great bones

It has all of the bones just not enough meat. The story development should have been flushed out a lot more. The characters do a lot to save it from complete predictability, too.

Interesting take

If the intention of this book was to gain sympathy for Dustin, the bully, then the way it was written is brilliant because he's the only character I liked.

The most interesting character, the one with most growth by far is Dustin, the bully. But most of the book is about Brenna and her obsession with Bobby, a boy she has crushed on for years and follows into college.

Brenna and Bobby are not very likable characters, each is self-centered, immature and naive. I don't think it's ever really said in the book, or if it is I missed, but I believe they are freshman in college. Maybe not Dustin, I think he's ahead.
But Brenna and Bobby act more like middle schoolers than college students.

So Confusing

I got this book via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. The blurb and the title made me think I would hear a story about a girl being bullied in high school then rediscovering that bully had changed in later life. The first chapters of the book were about the girl pining away for a guy. She then goes to college and does the same thing. It was hard for me to discover the story. The bullying was not mentioned at all in the beginning which is where I was expecting it to be. The ending was good and the narrator did a good job with the story but I was confused throughout waiting for the bullying to be explained. I enjoy this author's books but this one did not do it for me. Too much of the book was spent on something that did not go with what the story was about. Perhaps I missed it but not so, but this is just my opinion.

A Really Good Book!

A fun and entertaining story with good writing and lots of surprises. The characters seemed to connect with me and I felt as if I was in college with them. A heart warming story that makes you feel as if you lived and changed along with the characters. A real enjoyment.

Quick, easy read!

College enemies to more book that was in some ways predictable but had a few surprises thrown in as well. I enjoyed the story line, and love stand alone books but would love it if this one was continued. I do love her epiphany at the end about her relationships. This book to me was more about her figuring out about herself more than about a college romance. Narration was good. Good story!

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review from audiobookboom.com

An Unexpected Romance with Great Characters

Bobby is the man. The best man, or really dream man as far as Brenna is considered. Dustin is a jock who bullied her. But we don't stay who we were in high school, and it's wonderful to see just who Brenna and Dustin are as they get to know each other. The best part is letting the love story reveal just what's happened between Bobby, Brenna and Dustin. A truly touching romance with great characters.

Brenna and Dustin!

Brenna has been friends with Bobby since they were children however she wants more. When he breaks up with his girlfriend she thinks this is the chance she has been waiting for and decides to attend the same college but she soon finds out it is not meant to be.

Dustin is attending the same college as well. He bullied her all through high school and he is the last person she wants to see. He seems to have a habit of rescuing her from the worst situations, but has he really changed, or will he revert to his old ways when she least expects it?

Brenna could drive you crazy at times as she couldn’t see what was in front of her face in regards to both Bobby and Dustin. I really liked how Dustin’s character developed throughout the story. I thought the narrator did a good job at bringing the characters to life. I voluntarily reviewed an audio copy of this book from the narrator.

She Saves Him

I received this story in exchange for a for a review and went in somewhat blind to the details of the story. In opening, you wish to hate Dustin for tormenting our heroine in high school. That was where the story started. I am no longer 25, so at first I was a little put off by the age of the characters, as well as Brenna obsessing over a guy who put her in the friend zone. The story was good, but the age didn't work for me personally. As the story progressed and the characters grew older, I because much more comfortable with the story. As they say, there are always two sides to a story and as you reach into the depths of Dustin's past, I fully changed my perspective on his character. With the addition of Brenna in his life, he changed, she changed, they changed and he was able to face and overcome some of his past challenges. Give this a try. It was my first book by Sky Corgan and I am interested to see her other stories. Ainsley Caswell was a new to me narrator. I like to hear more than one book by narrators before I really make an opinion, and I will seek her out in the future to hear more. Enjoy!
