About this listen

The plan was simple: Destroy the girl. Ruin her life. Make her and her mother leave.

Only…she’s not as easy a target as I thought she’d be.

She’s nothing but a pawn, a tool for my father to use against her mother.

But pawns don’t fight back the way she does. They don’t violate my sanity the way she does.

She put herself in the mouth of the beast.

I wanted her out of the way, but now…I can’t let her go.

This myth of Icarus retelling contains the following tropes and content warnings: college and mafia settings; stepbrother relationship; enemies-to-lovers; forbidden romance; mention of previous sexual assault, depictions of bullying, parental neglect/abuse, violence, murder, and human trafficking; depictions of consensual non-consent and pushing of boundaries. Discretion is advised.

Clever and highly enjoyable

I am a Lucy Smoke fan. I love that she did an Icarus retelling?? Who comes up with that?? I love it. And I love Lucy's dark mind and the way she creates these enemies to lovers stories that aren't boring and always have secrets that uncover so well.

So dark and twisted!

Loved it! The story was intense! Narrators were great! Lucy is one of my favorite authors, so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. This I a dark, bully college romance, and make sure to check the trigger warnings! Issac is so possessive of Aurora and is helping her to get her voice back and find herself. There is so much tension between the two! I'm also so intrigued by the plot storyline! The narrators did a great job of bringing the story to life. This is book 1 in a duet and does end on a cliffhanger. Fall with Me, book 2, will be available on Audible 8/29/23 but is available now through Kindle and free with KU!

yes and no

this is a really hard one to judge because the female narrator does a wonderful job of performing suck a blah female character. the main female character which I find to be doll and empty headed. she doesn't have much of anything worthwhile to say. The male narrator does have a beautiful voice he just does not do a very well job in narrating this male character.
