About this listen

Sometimes to truly know a person, you have to read between the lines.

Isabelle is completely lost. When she first began her career in publishing after college, she did not expect to be twenty-five, still living at home, and one of the few Black employees at her publishing house. Overworked and underpaid, constantly torn between speaking up or stifling herself, Izzy thinks there must be more to this publishing life. So when she overhears her boss complaining about a beastly high-profile author who has failed to deliver his long-awaited manuscript, Isabelle sees an opportunity to prove her worth and finally get the recognition she deserves. All she has to do is go to the author's Santa Barbara mansion and give him a quick pep talk or three. How hard could it be?

But Izzy quickly finds out she is in over her head. Beau Towers is not some celebrity lightweight writing a tell-all memoir. He is jaded and withdrawn and—it turns out—just as lost as Izzy. But despite his standoffishness, Izzy needs Beau to deliver, and with her encouragement, his story begins to spill onto the page. They soon discover they have more in common than either of them expected, and as their deadline nears, Izzy and Beau begin to realize there may be something there that wasn't there before.

Best-selling author Jasmine Guillory's reimagining of a beloved fairy tale is a tale as old as time . . . for a new generation.

something I didn't know I needed

This book not only entertained me, it inspired me to pick up the pen again and give writing another shot. I love a good love story but this was so much more. The words of encouragement/pep talks helped me through my writers block and reminded me that I have plenty to say. This book was nothing short of amazing (a great romance and motivation piece.)

Great Love Story

Okay so Sarah (the narrator) sounds just like Gabrielle Union to me. But anyway, love the story since I'm a sucker for love. I do wish a male voice would have read Beux's lines but that's just my personal preference.

The Modern-Day Beauty and the Beast

This was an excellent book. Full of imagery and beautiful Rendition of the Beauty and the Beast. I love how the characters had so much depth, it is lovely to read stories that are characters that pare melaninated. Loved loved this book and the narrator.

Truly loved this book

I enjoyed the narrator; her voice sounded similar to Gabrielle Union. Busy and bard I hope to hear more of their story may be in a later book. This one definitely deserves a sequel.

Cute

This novel was a nice escape from reality. I enjoyed the story line and the connections to Beauty and the Beast. But there were some really predictable parts were the characters were being over the top that made me have to put the book down for a few weeks. Over all I enjoyed the book and it had a pleasant ending.

Great story

Literally, my only complaint is that the narrator pronounces library as ‘libary’ several times…silly, I know, but it got under my skin.

Beautiful romance

This was beautifully written, describing how our basic human nature sometimes process from connecting with our true love in general people. I love that this book did not make me cringe at the possibility of my kids walking in and listening to soft porn like other books. Great story
