A cabinet of anecdotes

The author was a great narrator. Hearing the book rather reading it on the page makes these curiosities so much more memorable.

there were some good stories but

there were some good stories but many times it felt like a weak story was propped up by the" rest of the story" format. I can see people liking it, after all Family Feud is on the air.

Fantastic!

Love this! Liks 5 minute mysteries or mysteries at the museum. Short historical stories. Near perfect narration. Very enjoyable.

Interesting

If you are a fan of Lore, you'll love Cabinet of Curiosities. It's interesting...Aaron Mahnke's voice is grating, which takes away from the enjoyment of this varied collection of curiosities.

Between the lines

The last remarks at the end of each anecdote are cringeworthy at best. The narrator is distractingly jumpy. The pieces of interview between chapters are indescribably terrible. The thorough collection of knowledge singlehandedly kept this thing afloat.

Deliciously Weird and Fascinating 🧐

As a longtime fan of Lore and Noble Blood, I had high expectations for Cabinet of Curiosities, and it absolutely delivered. Aaron Mahnke has a gift for weaving eerie, fascinating, and often overlooked historical oddities into engaging narratives, and this audiobook is no exception. Each chapter is a bite-sized deep dive into the weird and wonderful, perfect for those who love the intersection of history and the macabre.

The narration is exactly what you’d expect from Mahnke—polished, atmospheric, and compelling. His voice carries just the right mix of intrigue and reverence for these strange tales, making it easy to get lost in each story. Whether you’re listening during a commute or late at night with the lights low, Cabinet of Curiosities keeps you hooked with stories that range from bizarre coincidences to dark historical mysteries.

For fans of Lore, this feels like an extension of everything that makes the podcast great, but with a fresh collection of tales that even seasoned history buffs might not know. And if you love the dramatic storytelling of Noble Blood, you’ll appreciate the way Mahnke brings historical figures and oddities to life. If you’re someone who enjoys the strange, the unexplained, and the stories that history books tend to overlook, this audiobook is a must-listen.
