if you're a fan of Hills Have Eyes and TCM

Jonny proves his love for the genre once again with a no holds or people barred extreme horror thrill ride. it'll have you upset, excited, and keep your attention until the end. a great love letter to the horror greats such as Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a touch of Wrong Turn.

Ewwwww!

All I can say is if you decide to listen to this be prepared for graphic cannibalism, cannibals fighting over who has sex with their dead mother and extreme violence. That being said the writing is really good and the narration better.
Oh, and don't plan on eating supper!

Family Traditions: A story of vengeance.

Though the culinary skill wasn’t as decadent as I had come to expect, the pure brutality was more than enough. This story had me reeling from the unforgiving violence. Jon Athan really out did himself with this story of survival and vengeance. I didn’t expect backwoods cannibals can’t really say what I expected. The brother characters I liked. Jed especially when he gets himself into the major roll. Would recommend this to people that can handle their heart strings being pulled when child characters are killed off. I almost couldn’t. The narrator did reread some lines but he was clear and added to the characterization of all the characters.

Fun story and wonderfully brutal

This horror novel starts out a bit slow but when things go bad for the protagonists they go really bad. I love horror and disturbing content. The stuff that goes on in this book works great for me but it will be too hardcore for the average horror fan. So beware if you don’t enjoy extreme horror. The narrator is fair. Carver won’t blow you away but he delivered the story good enough. I’m going to try more of Jon Athan’s books since he isn’t afraid to push the envelope.

Tame by Athon’s standards

Good story good read but by his usual standard actually pretty tame. That being said by most people’s standards horrific. So I would recommend to any extreme horror fan.

Decent Backwoods Cannibal Story

If you are familiar with Jon Athan's writing you know that it is extremely graphic and quite intense. There is a lot of blood and guts, torture, and few survive. This story is no different and as the title suggests, it involves cannibals out in the woods. From there you can pretty much fill in the rest of the plot. While the story itself is good, it wasn't anything ground breaking and seemed to be a bit tame compared to other of Athan's books. I feel like with backwoods cannibals there isn't a whole lot you can do to stray from that pack and this one is no different. That said, any fan of Athan's work will definitely enjoy this, I just prefer some of his other more unique stories.

The characters are interesting, however, they too seem to be your typical fodder for a story like this. The cannibals were the most interesting as they were not just cannibals, but in-bred mutated cannibals. Very Wrong Turn movie style. I think my favorite part is where the kids are watching a turned off TV because they are so in-bred and dumb that they have seen the family do that and think that is what you do.

Joshua Carver did a great job with the narration. I liked his character voices and thought he really brought the story to life.

Cannibal Creek

In my opinion, Jon Athan is one of the great horror writers. Be warned, the book is graphic but I expect nothing less than that from Jon Athan. I highly recommend if you like this type of book.
