About this listen

Embark on a chilling journey inside one of the world’s darkest and most dangerous places: Evin, the notorious Tehran prison. Here, prisoners are routinely tortured, abused, and violated. Executions are frequent and sudden. But for two women imprisoned for their Christian faith - Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh - this hell on earth was a place of unlikely grace as they reflected God’s love and compassion to their fellow prisoners and guards. Against all odds, Evin would become the only church many of them had ever known.

In Captive in Iran, Maryam and Marziyeh recount their 259 days in Evin. It’s an amazing story of unyielding faith - when denying God would have meant freedom. Of incredible support from strangers around the world who fought for the women’s release. And of bringing God’s light into one of the world’s darkest places - giving hope to those who had lost everything, and showing love to those in despair.

Awesome story- real life prison and love

I just saw these two beautiful girls on YouTube at a church in UK telling their story. It was good but the book goes into detail on the hard situations yet their sheer trust in Jesus. As if they were Daniel and his 3 friends in the Bible. Or peter and paul in prison. I wish all of us Christians really served the Lord and showed His love around the world. It wouldn’t have gone to socialism! We would care and respect each other. I don’t know how they did this

Such light in darkness

As with Corrie Ten Boom, Richard Wurmbrand and others who have been imprisoned for their faith, the miraculous ways in which their suffering was redeemed leaves a Christian greatly challenged and encouraged.

Riveting!

This book is a must read. It was completely inspiring and captivating. The passion and love these two women have for Jesus and the courage they showed throughout unbelievable persecution is a true testimony of their unwavering faith! They are the modern day sisters to Corrie & Betsy Ten Boom. I will be reading it again as I enjoyed the Audible version which is very well narrated.

Heartbreaking, encouraging!

This is a must listen for anyone interested in what life is like living as a Christian in an Islamic country, specifically Iran. Some of the stories are gut-wrenching, and difficult to forget. The book focuses on the abuse of women broadly, and in detail of two Christian women. Narration is great, and writing style very listenable.

Better than expected

A good story with a good performance by the narrator. The numerous stories of Iranian women suffering at the hands of Islam was heart breaking. So many people tortured and murdered because of the abusive regime running Iran.
