Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Seanan McGuire, a haunting urban fantasy short story in the Carniepunk anthology - for fans of all things circus, supernatural, and mysterious....

It's been 17 years since the last time Ada's carnival passed through her father's hometown in Alabama.... and no one is expecting the reception she gets.

charming and melancholy

Got this short story for less than $2 and since it was Seanan and carniepunk, I went for it. What a charming and melancholy tale of a carnival misfit family and their mermaid attraction. Utterly charming.

A Carnival of Wonder

Seanan McGuire is a fine writer, spinning tales of wonder, bringing the unbelievable to life in the mind's eye. Vivid, crisp descriptions are paired with a smooth bright pace in the timeless voice of brilliant storyteller.

Candace Thraxton dives in with distinct voices and clear narration, pulling us into Ada's story.

The story might be short, but there's a world of back story behind this gem, and it peeks through at us, charming us, daring us to want more. Carnie life, mermaids, and summer weave together along with hopes, dreams, and the things that change us from children into people walking on a path, shaping a life of our own in this world.

If any of this appeals, give it a try. Your sure to enjoy the ride!

Beautiful

A beautiful short story that packs so much into just a little space. Definitely worth the low price - just be aware it IS a short story, not a novel.

it made no sense!

no real story, no explanations. The only thingvi got out of the story was if mermaids stay in wster long they forget who they were in their still human bodys. Wasn't worth paying for. glad I didnt waste a credit.

I wasted a credit on this?

These are the kind of books that makes me wonder why I joined a audiobook club. no real story, no explanations. The only thing got out of the story was if mermaids stay in water long they forget who they were in their still human bodies. Wasn't worth the credit. wow.
