About this listen

This is audiobook #8 in the Casca Series.

The Cambodian Jungle is an easy place to die for most men, but not Casca Longinus. Cursed to live and fight as a soldier through millennia, the eternal mercenary finds himself deep in the misty heart of a jungle war. Endless miles of vermin-infested swamp become his stalking ground, while he in turn is hunted constantly by the Khmer Rouge.

The stakes are high, but it is also a chance for Casca (Casey Romaine) to earn $200,000. It is a price he considers fair for what would be a suicide mission to any other man. To earn it, he must parachute into a tropical hell, rescue a family of Chinese refugees, and bring them back to Taiwan...alive!

Pretty good story

The 8th book in the series, it is set in a more present day rather than the ancient past. It is of course a war time sort of novel and there are lots of detailed descriptions of battles. The relationships between the characters is well told and the book was exciting until the end.

Great Series!

I love this series of books 📚, Mr. Engene is terrific, his use of tones & voice changes are unique. Perfectly done, I feel sometimes as if I'm right there in the era of that time.. Must read, add to your wish list.

Love the Series

I am listening to the series in the order that they were released. So far, this is my least favorite book. Perhaps I am being prudish, but the apparent increase in the sex descriptions was off-putting and unnecessary. I hope it is an aberration and not done in later novels.
