About this listen

When Cassie Coburn moved to London, she never thought she'd be involved in a quadruple homicide.

After a car accident ended her medical career before it even started, Cassie moved to London on a whim, expecting to see the sights and live the typical tourist backpacker lifestyle.

Instead she finds herself accompanying a French private detective, Violet Despuis, as they attempt to find out who poisoned four people in the middle of London.

Cassie's life soon includes this crazy detective, an ancient landlady with a curious past, a mischievous orange cat who likes going for walks on a leash, and a super hot pathologist that Cassie is sure is out of her league.

And they haven't even found the murderer yet...

Follow Cassie through the streets of London in this boxed set containing the following novels by Samantha Silver: Poison in Paddington, Bombing in Belgravia and Whacked in Whitechapel.

I tried this series / author randomly. I love murder mystery thrillers but reading them back to back like I tend to do can really do a number on your mind.
This "cozy mystery" is just what I wanted and needed. Great stories and a few fun LOL moments. Well worth the money/credit
The narration is just fantastic. Sometimes English accents in audible books drive me bonkers (being originally from the UK) but she did an amazing job.
Having only read the first book in this box set I already have the next box set purchased and will be buying the rest

loved it !! nice easy read mystery

So, I have discovered recently that I really enjoy cozies with a mixture of American and British accents. This series gets bonus points for adding a French accent, as well. Cassie is a very relatable character - smart but not always self assured. Violet is almost a characature of an arrogant French woman, very much like a female Hercule Poirot. She denies it, saying she is not Belgian, but I can almost hear Poirot speaking of his little gray cells when Violet speaks. Their adventures are fun. Their repertoire natural. Their relationship enjoyable. Oh, and, yes, there is a cute guy.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THESE BOOKS

Fun to listen to. Not the same old thing. Cute realistic characters. New plots. Really enjoyable !

New story line

Samantha Silver obviously is an Agatha Christie fan, and her Violet Despuis is an obvious take on Christie’s Hercule Poirot. That said, Silver’s enchanting French detective is charming, with an ego the size of Texas, but earned through classic logic and keen observation.

Silver’s story is well-written with an occasional grammar glitch, like missing objective pronouns about every third prepositional phrase and getting subjunctive mood wrong—along with most moderns. But Silver’s imagination is entertaining and her crises believable, even if the relaxed association with the police is unlikely.

But we like Cassie and Violet, and their adventures enough to overlook those minor mistakes.

Patricia Santomasso does a good job, adept at a host of accents and male and female tones, without a flaw.

We’ll move on to the rest of the series. It’s a welcome Cozy find.

Entirely listenable

I read a few reviews that said this series was good, so I took the plunge and bought them (3 books for 1 credit is a good deal).
These 3 stories are really pretty great - obviously inspired by/ an homage to Sherlock Holmes, but fun and modern, using women as the protagonists. If you love Sherlock Holmes, and cozy mysteries- you'll love these!

Cute Sherlock-inspired cozy!
