About this listen

Nestled quietly on the Pacific Coast below San Francisco, Molena Point is a quaint hamlet - not the kind of place an escaped convict would choose for a hideout. But it just happens to be the home of a state's witness who put a thief named Cage Jones behind bars - until he broke out, that is.

Wily tomcat Joe Grey senses trouble is on the way, but he never expected a federal officer would be shot or that two locals would be brutally murdered. With danger closing in, the feline detective, his girlfriend Dulcie, and their tattercoat friend Kit must put paws and whiskers together to capture a very nasty criminal before he strikes again.

Disappointing non ending, without the usual, " I hope you enjoyed..." from Audible. I liked the reader.

I adore the Joe Grey mysteries; however this installment and the previous had a different narrator. William Dufris is horrible when it comes to this series, the mispronunciation of words was irritating, along with his character voices! I rushed through the book as quickly as I could, just to finish and move on so I could listen once again to Susan Boyce’s wonderful narration. The story was good, but the narrator was very disappointing! Please never use him again for this series!

Disappointed in Narration

A good and fun story. I look forward to the next book.
I don't think SRM knows that portion of California very well because it takes more than 2 hours to drive from SF to Gilroy because of terrible terrible traffic .

This one was a blast!

I love the stories. I don't like the new narrator. He mispronounces Spanish words like a chorizo (it's a hard ch not a k). Then there are those stereotypical accents he gave Roman and the other folk who are Hispanic. Finally, Joe sounds sooooo arrogant that I can't stand him.

I Don't Like the New Narrator

Joe Grey, Dulcie, and Kit are joined by the three ferals to help rescue Dulcie's beloved Wilma after she is kidnapped. In addition, Joe is obssessed with the three murders of women in their homes. Is there a serial killer lose in Medina Point?

This book is about halfway in the series.

The voice of Joe isn't exactly what I imagined for a rough tough tomcat but I got use to it. The other voices are quite good and the reader does catch Joe's impatience and slight arrogance.

A welcome addition to Audible's collection, I hope the others in the series will soon join it.

Joe Grey is back

I will be very happy when Susan returns as narrator.
The story just isn’t the story without her.

Great story as usually.

This narrator has several annoying tics and should learn more about his trade before continuing to narrate.

Terrible narration.

thanx to the amazing detective skills of 3 fancy felines! it makes me sad to think of Kit's.. kittenhood. how sad and lonely she was. and then it makes me happy she found all her friends~kittie and human alike=) i love this kittie so much that, after grieving for one of my lost fur babies, ive decided to find a little girl kittie who needs rescuing.. and name her Kit😻
i didn't know (but probably should have) until i found this series, that when an animal loses a friend, they should be allowed to see the body. so that they can understand and maybe not grieve so long. to have some closure. i was too distraught to think of this when we lost Tego, our sweet girl. but it makes sense. it's why humans have open casket funeral services. and just like humans, some cats feel death harder than others..
anyway! this book gets 5⭐ from me!!
😻😻😻

another cat-astrophe avoided!😻

Cat Pay the Devil is a great installment in the Joe Grey series . . . but I, like many other listeners, can hardly abide William Dufris as the narrator :( Oh my . . . While Susan Boyce does a bang up job on all the Joe Grey books, I can't say the say for this performance. BUT I wasn't willing to miss the story. Wilma is kidnapped by an escaped convict . . . and the cats have their work cut out for them to find her and set her free . . . Joe, Dulcie and Kit are joined by feral talking cats, Cotton, Willow and Coyote, who witnessed the kidnapping. Many years earlier Wilma, a retired prison officer knew the escaped convict, Cage Jones, and now he was back and he had her. Great story . . . bad narration.

Bring Back Susan Boyce!
