J. D. Robb
#1 New York Times bestselling author J. D. Robb presents the fifth thrilling novel in her futuristic In Death series—where even in an age of cutting-edge technology, old beliefs die hard.
Conducting a top secret investigation into the death of a fellow police officer has Lieutenant Eve Dallas treading on dangerous ground. She must put professional ethics before personal loyalties. But when a dead body is placed outside her home, Eve takes the warning personally. With her husband, Roarke, watching her every move, Eve is drawn into the most dangerous case of her career. Every step she takes makes her question her own beliefs of right and wrong—and brings her closer to a confrontation with humanity's most seductive form of evil...

Any additional comments?
These are not "heavy" storyline books, but are fun to listen to. Peabody and Rourke were my favorites in this one with their subtle humor as well as the magic/evil aspect. As always, the narrator makes these books their best!Secondary Characters were my favorite.

The book itself... just fucking wow. Nora Roberts is talented. And more than that, she’s thorough. This book dips very deep into the occult and paganism. Having done many years of my own research into said topics, I say with pride and appreciation that Nora Roberts is the first fictional writer (for books, tv shows or films for that matter) to use accurate information on witchcraft and the occult. Either she’s a witch herself or she spent a great deal of time doing much of the same research I’ve done myself. Satanists and witches/wicans/pagans, while they might have similar styles of practice, are vastly different. Both in creed and in beliefs. She explores the ignorant sides of today’s reactions to the subject of the occult but she also presents the facts. Unfolds them as Eve investigates further into her case. Eventually she even explains the difference between witches and satanists. And let me tell you, almost all of her interpretations of the two religions are true. The only deviations I could find, I firmly believe were more due to plot progression than Roberts personal beliefs on the subject.
Long story short, I’m thrilled and pleased to have read a book that so accurately depicts a lifestyle and religion that’s hard pressed for more positive representation in the media and entertainment industries. She was already an amazing author to me before I read this one. Now...? She’s the best!!!!
Holy crap!!!
