About this listen

Number one New York Times best seller

The Shadowhunters must catch a killer in Edwardian London in this dangerous and romantic sequel to the number one New York Times best-selling novel Chain of Gold, from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cassandra Clare. Chain of Iron is a Shadowhunters novel.

Cordelia Carstairs seems to have everything she ever wanted. She’s engaged to marry James Herondale, the boy she has loved since childhood. She has a new life in London with her best friend, Lucie Herondale, and James’ charming companions, the Merry Thieves. She is about to be reunited with her beloved father. And she bears the sword Cortana, a legendary hero’s blade.

But the truth is far grimmer. James and Cordelia’s marriage is a lie, arranged to save Cordelia’s reputation. James is in love with the mysterious Grace Blackthorn whose brother, Jesse, died years ago in a terrible accident. Cortana burns Cordelia’s hand when she touches it, while her father has grown bitter and angry. And a serial murderer is targeting the Shadowhunters of London, killing under cover of darkness, then vanishing without a trace.

Together with the Merry Thieves, Cordelia, James, and Lucie must follow the trail of the knife-wielding killer through the city’s most dangerous streets. All the while, each is keeping a shocking secret: Lucie, that she plans to raise Jesse from the dead; Cordelia, that she has sworn a dangerous oath of loyalty to a mysterious power; and James, that he is being drawn further each night into the dark web of his grandfather, the arch-demon Belial. And that he himself may be the killer they seek.

Excellent Narrator!!

Loved it! I know the narrator was great because I completely lost myself in the story and characters. Her voices were great!
As for the book. Ugggh! I can't stand Grace! She drives me nuts!!! Thank goodness someone finally told her to shut up! The look on her face must have been priceless! lol This whole book was full of jaw dropping moments! Another great book by Cassie!

Maybe it’s just me...

Okay, first off. I’m a few chapters shy of finishing. Secondly I loooooved the first book and have been waiting patiently for this book.I’ve spent almost 20 hours in this book for the secrets and lying and let downs to come to an end and they haven’t. I’m pretty disappointed so far. Idk if it’s the long anticipation (6 months) or the secrets as if she couldn’t think of anything else to happen with the characters but I feel like nothing has happened. Also I hate Grace.. if she doesn’t die a painful death I’m gonna be mad. This is too long of a book for just fights and lies to be the only thing that happened. The amount of character development opportunities that I’ve read and then missed out on just makes it worse. I’m gonna read the third book but she’s got a lot of ends to tie up. But currently I feel like I could have just skipped this one and waited for the 3rd 🙃

I'm glad I purchased it.

I'm really enjoying this series as a follow up to the clockwork series. Its not fast paced but rather it reminds me of a period drama on BBC thanks to the wonderful narrator Finty Williams. If you follow the other works of Cassandra Clare then you already have an idea of the fates of these characters but you want to know what happens next regardless.

Captivating and well written

I didn’t know if I would feel the attachment I felt in the clockwork series to the kids in this series but this book convinced me that I absolutely can. I loved this story and can’t wait to read the next one. I strongly recommend reading her other books too. I know I will
