Publisher's summary

Nothing worth having comes easy.

Rainier Hart knows all about hiding. He’s ready to burst out of the closet, consequences be damned. His first escape attempt failed, but he’s not done fighting. Back in his hometown, all he has are a few worthless buildings and a job on a construction crew. What he needs is a firm hand to guide him - and a family that doesn’t look down their noses at him.

Colt Fuller is everything Rain isn’t...or is he? Rich, muscular, commanding, and very much out of place in Hart’s Bay, he wants more than Rain's run-down warehouses. He wants the surprisingly defiant little twink who owns them, too. The pull between them is too strong to ignore, even with everything that’s on the line.

Rain and Colt are perfectly matched: right down to the secrets they'd each prefer to keep buried. Those secrets threaten the very foundations they begin to build a life together on.

Because nothing stays secret in Hart’s Bay, including how they really feel about each other. Can they see past the bluster and into each other’s hearts?

Changed Hart is the second book in the new Hart’s Bay series about a small town full of nosy but well-meaning neighbors and brotherly banter. It can be enjoyed on its own, and promises a happily-ever-after ending and plenty of smiles and steam along the way. Plus, because it's Rain, more sass than anyone expected.

Good story

Kept getting back to it to hear what happens next. Just enough suspense. Sex scenes ok.

Fun contemporary romance

I enjoyed this story. The town and characters definitely had a fluffy romance series feel. The setting was interesting and the tension throughout the story worked. The characters had some miscommunications, but I liked that it wasn't the major driver of relationship strife. The vulnerabilities that both characters had complemented each other well. Good chemistry, good listen.

Ed and Greg a perfect match

Rain is in hiding, he has a failed attempt at a relationship and came home to a family who don't care. He needs a man to guide him and in walks Colt, a want to be property developer who wants to develop Rains warehouses. A relationship soon blossoms and Rain makes a family of his own from friends and family that had been pushed aside. Can't wait to continue their journey through the series.

great addition

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

Changed Hart is a great addition to the Hart's Bay Series. Good pace, great characters and interesting story. I love the humor and snark and the personal growth we see in Rain and Colt as their story progresses.

Greg Boudreaux does his usual spectacular performance bringing the characters in Changed Hart to life, adding depth and emotion to the audio experience.

I enjoyed it when I read it

and Boudreaux makes the story even better to listen to! This was a beautiful story, I loved how they came together and it was pretty low angst with quick resolutions to the conflict. It's a sweet read with great characters. I do wish we saw more of the art gallery guys! Can't wait for more in this series.

Finding Your Strength

Colt and Rain's story is about finding your strength. Strength in who you are, and strength to become who you want to be. There are of course obstacles in the way of finding that strength and in this story it comes in the way of Rain's own family most especially Floyd who by the end of this book you'd very much like to see used as chum for any sharks that might be living in Hart's Bay...maybe even helped by Lucy the town's seal mascot.

But it is in finding your own truth and being willing to see it that you grow and you do see an incredible amount of growth in this book. Rain learns to accept even that which is hard (that his family are a bunch of hate mongering homophobes) while Colt finds the strength to let someone into the shadowed places in his heart that he has never dared show anyone else.

It has all the feels that make an E. Davies book an incredible journey to take and heat enough to remind you that connections are also physical and not just emotional. Greg does a stellar job as usual. So if you are looking for a great journey I highly suggest taking this one. The scenery is beautiful and your companions on the journey are pretty amazing.

Hot

I really was curious about Rain when he was introduced in book 1. You learn his backstory and I was surprised by a few things.
No spoilers here though!
He had instant chemistry with Colt which was super hot and Greg’s narration did not disappoint. I felt he did a fab job.
I’ll definitely want the next audio in this series!

Loved it!!

I loved this story. Colt was sweet and domineering and I am glad Rain made up with Finn and the other side of Hart family. I laughed so hard at the slippery sex scene!!

The narrator was amazing as well. I loved his version of Colt...so sexy!!

Excellent! Loved the 🎧Audible version!💗

I read the kindle version of this in September, so when the ARC for the Audible came my way, I am not ashamed to say weakness grabbed hold and I snatched it.

I love this series and the truth behind the fiction that speaks volumes, that even though change may be scary, it can happen in big ways if done in small doses over time. But, someone has to make that first step.

This was my first book with narrator, Greg Boudreaux, and children lemme just tell you, I will be doing some research for more of what he is serving. I have found a new narrator and mmman oh man does he bring a nice dinner to an already beautifully set table. **momma likey...😁

Trusting and Being Your True Self

Rain suspects everyone knows he is gay, but in order to avoid a total break with his family he never actually comes out. The trade-off is that he fled Hart's Bay for Colorado where he ended up with an abusive boyfriend that he had great difficulty breaking away from. He returns to Hart's Bay and takes a job on his cousin's construction crew in the first book in this series. In this book, Colt arrives in town looking to buy the warehouse near the wharf that Rain acquired from his grandfather after the near tragedy in book one. Colt wants to invest money he just got access to on his birthday from his late parents. Colt and Rain have instant chemistry but Colt is the product of numerous foster homes as a child and it is automatic for him to hide something very important about his life. Colt and Rain go into business and start a very hot, but very slow burning romance and just as things seem to be rolling along better than either man ever dreamed an evil from Rain's past discovers Colt's secret and makes Rain question Colt's intentions and makes Hart's Bay question the legitimacy of the development. The result is not what the evil plotter expects, the town rallies around Rain and Colt (even Lucille the seal) and Rain finally stands up to his family in a stand up and cheer phone call. Greg Boudreaux's narration is as wonderful here as it was in book one and during the break-up/apology scenes he will absolutely break your heart with the pain he transmits. He is equally adept and communicating the joy Colt and Rain feel when they are together. There is a scene in the bar when Rain and Colt are first seriously negotiating their partnership that is a master class in using double entendre. The author wrote it masterfully and Greg Boudreaux's narration brings out both the sexiness and the humor as both men clearly realize what is going on. An amazing job of writing and performing! Another superb story with more sadness than we saw in Hard Hart and an equally happy ending for our guys both personally and professionally. Can't wait to listen to the third book in the series.
