About this listen
The second book in Penny Jessup’s best selling The Alpha’s Son series.
It’s been three months since their kiss on the beach and Max hasn’t heard a whisper from Jasper.
With Christmas fast approaching, and despite vowing he would chase Jasper to the ends of the world, Max is ready to give up. Until Alpha Jericho announces he’s sending a select envoy of Elite Pack wolves to an allied wolf-pack stationed high in the rocky mountains, where they will bear witness to a Blood Moon. A week in a cozy ski-lodge sounds as romantic as you can get, so Max decides to give things with Jasper one last shot.
But life in the mountains is rockier than expected and finding alone time with Jasper is harder than Max thought. Political unrest between the packs is galvanizing Jasper’s determination to keep them apart, and new and old suitors are emerging in the pursuit of Jasper’s affections.
Running headfirst into snow storms, Max begins to question if the destiny he’s been chasing is what he really wants. And when the Blood Moon arrives, bringing irrevocable change that no one saw coming, Max and Jasper’s connection will be put to the ultimate test.
Will they find the path between souls among the snow covered peaks or will the mountain roads lead them to an unexpected destiny?

Story
There are plenty of words Jonah Collins could use to describe Dylan Ramírez. “Arrogant,” “spoiled,” and “golden boy” to name a few. Likewise, Dylan thinks he has Jonah accurately labeled as an attention-seeking asshat who never shuts his filthy mouth. Their friends are convinced Jonah’s and Dylan’s disdain for one another is just thinly veiled lust—a rumor that surges like wildfire when the two wake up in one bed after homecoming. Mutually horrified, Dylan and Jonah agree to use the faux pas to their advantage by fake dating.

I never thought I’d find love. I spent all of high school watching others pair up, my little gay heart slowly withering in despair… until the fateful summer night that I met Tim. His meaty muscles and smoldering silver eyes already haunt my dreams. And I know for a fact that he’s lonely like me. I’ve been taking care of Tim ever since he got into an accident that was technically my fault, but the healing he needs goes so much deeper than that. I need him too. With any luck, I’ll end senior year with the man of my dreams at my side.

I don’t know what it is about Cage Rucker that makes my wolf howl. Yeah, he has a body that’s been chiseled from marble, and a smile that melts my heart, but it’s more than that. There’s something about the way he smells. My wolf knows. Does that mean that this boy is going to fall all over himself to find out? No way. Cage has a girlfriend. I don’t fall for straight boy… anymore. I wouldn’t even have talked to him again if he hadn’t offered me an exchange I couldn’t refuse.

Story
It’s been a year since eighteen-year-old River Lang’s best friend died in a car accident. And every day since, he’s had to pass by the depressing billboard that appeared as a result: a texting and driving PSA that reduces Dylan to a cautionary tale and River to the best friend of the dead kid at school. Dylan was so much more than a statistic, though, and River hates that everyone in town seems to have forgotten. When he’s caught improving (a.k.a. vandalizing) Dylan’s billboard, River is blackmailed into joining the Affinity Trials.

Dylan Gallagher’s hot neighbor loathed him from the second he moved in, and causing a flood, falling through the floor, and landing directly onto that same neighbor’s bed probably means that’s unlikely to change. The poorly timed “It’s Raining Men” joke didn’t help. Meanwhile, ER nurse Derek Chang’s life is a literal when-rains-it-pours nightmare. A man he hates dropped into his life along with an astronomically expensive problem originating from Derek’s own apartment’s plumbing.

Where was this when I was growing up?!
As a fantasy writer myself, I appreciate all the imagery and characterizations the author creates with their work. The stories are light enough for younger audiences but deep enough for anyone of any age to relate to. Eager for the next installment and other works!

Quite good! A fine follow up!
One of the things I find most intriguing about this story is that it is definitely a take on the stigma of being in a same-sex relationship, and yet it uses the prejudices and discriminatory practices, only found in fictional werewolf culture as a stand for actual slurs. Knowing many people who are polyamorous, I can’t say I agree with the authors interpretation of what that type of relationship looks like. Overall though, the first book made me care about what happens to these characters and the second one made me care even more. I look forward to seeing where we go from here.

MORE LORE ?!?!
[!!!] SPOILERS [!!!]
Flipping fantastic story telling!!! I listened to this the day after finishing the first book and I am writing this with about two hours of sleep as my brain would not flipping let me sleep. I love how Max has started to grow (I mean everyone in general) as he starts to take the reins into his hands! I don’t want to say too much just in case ya haven’t read / listened to the previous book or this one but it has wonderful characters and great representation especially for the LGBTQIA+ community!!!!
Penny Jessup. This series is flipping amazing and thank you for opening my eyes in ways I never could have thought possible!!!
