Publisher's summary

My Fair Lady meets the classic teen film She's All That in this charming and swoony new rom-com from Brian D. Kennedy, author of A Little Bit Country. Perfect for fans of What If It's Us and She Gets the Girl.

Wade Westmore is used to being in the spotlight. So when he’s passed over for the lead in the spring musical, it comes as a major blow—especially when the role goes to his ex-boyfriend, Reese, who dumped him for being too self-involved.

Shy sophomore Elijah Brady is used to being overlooked. Forget not knowing his name—most of his classmates don’t even know he exists. So when he joins the stage crew for the musical, he seems destined to blend into the scenery.

When the two have a disastrous backstage run-in, Elijah proposes an arrangement that could solve both boys’ problems: If Wade teaches Elijah how to be popular, Wade can prove that he cares about more than just himself. Seeing a chance to win Reese back, Wade dives headfirst into helping Elijah become the new and improved “Brady.”

Soon their plan puts Brady center stage—and he’s a surprising smash hit. So why is Wade suddenly less worried about winning over his ex and more worried about losing Elijah?

Great preformance

Story was a little generic, but still heartwarming and an enjoyable listen despite that. would've liked some more moments between the leads

Loved it!

Believable story, great interaction between characters. Reminded me of my own college years. Both narrators were fantastic! Highly recommend!

Great story + well performed

Not groundbreaking but very enjoyable! Well written and well performed. The characters are well written and I actually like when the parents were in a scene. Subverts some tropes pretty well to come to a nice conclusion.

Audiobook Virgin - the morning after

This actually my first audiobook and I liked it enough to listen to the entire 9+ hour story over the course of two days.

The story is a little predictable, but I thought it was really well written and adult enough for someone who is much older than the protagonists in the story to enjoy. the story is narrated by two different POV, it was wise of them to hire two different voice actors to illustrate this. I do think the voices matched the character they were supposed to portray.

I would have appreciated if they gave a better description to the characters in the story, and even the things was satisfying, I would have liked an epilogue.

However, despite preferring to read over listen, the story was good to convince me to add audiobooks to my library of books.

IS THERE A SEQUAL? I need more!!!

This book was fantastic! The plot, the story itself, the characters! They all draw you in so much! I felt soo connected to Elijah. When the audio finished I was soo happy but at the same time sad because it was just a great listen that I want more.

The narrator also sell this novel very well! They both did a wonderful job!

Enjoyed very much

Even though I don’t read much YA anymore, this was very well written, and the performances were great! <3

A very sweet…

…and innocent coming of age story where awkward teenage boys find each other and they, and we readers, are the better for it. Nothing particularly groundbreaking in terms of storytelling but the young protagonists are very likable and the story hums along in a satisfying way. Michael Crouch, as narrator, elevates the material as he does with everything he performs. It’s a good read. I enjoyed it.
