About this listen

Slow build reverse harem paranormal romance

"Tell me what excites you." Lisbeth's life is plunged into darkness with the death of her lover. Now, nothing else matters. Not even her imprisonment by the council and looming execution. In the arms of her oldest and dearest friend, Balthazar, she seeks a momentary relief from her pain in the form of one night of unbridled passion. One night...that changes everything.

Freed by the Council for reasons she can’t fathom, Lisbeth stumbles onto a rebellion forming within the fanged community that could rip their world apart. Battling to quell the uprising, Lisbeth finds herself relying on Arthur to watch her back. But something in the depths of his icy stare is beginning to ignite a heat in Lisbeth she thought died with Knight. In the midst of political upheaval and brewing desire, Lisbeth learns a startling truth that finally gives her something to live for. Something secret. Something precious. Something she would give anything to protect.

With Arthur by her side, can Lisbeth find the answers that will prevent the house of cards from tumbling down around them? Child of the Outcast is a sizzling, reverse harem romance written by Elizabeth Dunlap! This book has the same action and romance that you loved in the Born Vampire series, but with extra content, and not just the steamy kind!

Warning: for adult audiences 18-plus. Language and actions may be deemed offensive to some. Sexually explicit content. M/F

The Saga Accelerates

After the apparent death of her lover/werewolf Knight, vampire Lisbeth is arrested, imprisoned and put on trial. Not to worry, she falls for her vampire/guard Arthur AND makes love with her oldest friend/demon, Balthazar! As they all try to keep ahead of the Council and the Turned, new and strange alliances are under way. Then Boom, a surprise guest makes for a cliff-hanger ending. Oops, did I forget to tell you about the vampire/demon baby!?!

Full of surprises

The first book in the series is a bit slow. This one is anything but slow! There’s so much going on between her captivity, her crazy and drama that is taking over the house. Truly a wild ride of surprises and some giggles because her crazy goes next level in some places. Completely engaging from start to finish and ends on one heck of a cliffhanger. Drying to dive into the next one. Narrator is quite enjoyable and can’t wait to have a listen to the next one!

These cliffhangers are killing me.

Talk about a big surprise. The whole story just took me into a big surprise. Gotta read/listen to book 3. You'll have to read this series and it is well worth it.

Surprisingly Good! Amazing Narrator.

Elizabeth Dunlap has created a unique world of vampires born into their immortality. Lisabeth may be 400 years old, but that doesn't mean her personality has dulled. On the contrary, I loved the insults she tossed at Arthur, the quirkiness of pretending to be a dolphin, and her casually referencing a tweet war with Anna Kendrick. xD Since I was not able to acquire Book One, I listened to this one first, thus missing out on the reason for the platonic relationship Lisabeth had with Balthazar. Like why they never became a thing and why he's considered an outcast? Just because he's an incubus? Pfft. Anyway, the birdies were adorable! I love books that incorporate pets. :)

As for the plot, the first half of the book is a little slow. Lisabeth is kept in captivity for months while the council deliberate on how to carry out her punishment. It gets a bit "New Moon" with hallucinations of Knight popping in and out. Then BAM! There's so much happening, throwing everything in Lisabeth's life into chaos. Old relationships change, lots of unexpected surprises show up, shocking deaths, new threats, and hopeful beginnings. This is also very much a slow-burn reverse harem: only two scenes were NSFW. Lisabeth is in mourning, but she also develops *something* for two of the men closest to her (the temporary companions do not count). The ending is a cliffhanger, but an epic one!

The mystery with the vampire gone mad has me in suspense. Now I'm not sure if I should go back to listen to the first book or to just move on to the third. Both feature different narrators. Anyone can narrate a book, but it takes skill to do it so well. It's like the difference between playing a song perfectly as if your grade depends on it and playing with so much passion that you manage to captivate the audience. Amber Lee Connors has done that for me. She took the material and made me connect with the heroine. If someone else were to narrate her lines, I'd probably be annoyed. I hope these books can be re-recorded using Ms. Connors's talents!
