About this listen

Being a chameleon demoness already made things tricky, but did it need to be this difficult?

All Dahlia wanted was her freedom. But first, she needed to buy out of her promised bonding - a promise that was made for her before she was even born. Almost a century of trying had taken its toll, and she did some things she isn’t proud of. She lost parts of herself along the way and flirted with the darkness inside her...and it flirted back.

Dahlia told herself it would all be worth it in the end, but before she won that battle, everything in her life systematically blew up in her face one piece at a time. Blaming it all on the beautiful, egotistical vampire who showed up in her life would be easy, but it started long before he arrived. With his help, she might succeed, but Dahlia wasn’t sure she could trust an outsider - not even one sent by Lucifer himself.

Dahlia was standing on the brink of having everything she’d ever dreamed of, but she also risked losing it all. Was her freedom really worth the cost?

Really loved this book.

Awesome characters and story. Lots of twists and I was ready to buy the next in the series when I was only half way through this one. Can’t wait for book 2.

Praying for Book #2 soon!

I took a chance reading this when though the next 2 books aren't out yet. It's been 4 years, so wistfully hoping this is the year the next book comes out. This was an awesome book, especially for a writer's first book.
Cris Dukehart is one of my favorite narrators and she just made the book better.

Great read

I liked the storyline and found the characters well developed. I did however wish the plot was revealed more. This book lifted me needing to know more which is frustrating . On to book 2

wish there was more

when you get the next books, add a male voice. It really gives it more depth.

Story with potential

The story has a lot of potential but was weakened by a pet peeve of mine: stupid female prognosis (sfp).
There's something really off-putting about someone who keeps putting herself in danger, time and time again, knowing full well (and admits it over and over again) that she doesn't have the skills to deal with the danger. Sfp has no male equivalent I've yet to come across in male MCs, so it is extremely vexing when I come across it in female characters - sours the story for me.
Other than that, an OK read. Narration was OK.

I enjoyed it

I've enjoyed this book very much, it's a slow burn. Since it's fantasy, I don't care about a non fiction detail like the other reviewer complained about (a car detail). I wanted a book to lose my self in and this book has surpassed my expectations. I cannot wait for the next book.

I would only like to warn, there is one small scene of an attempt of sexual abuse within the book.
