Firstly, Love the story, i do think in parts it could use a bit LESS detail.
Other than that i have no problem with to story.

Now for the performance, i LOVE it when David Tennet narrates, i have listened to the how to train your dragons series where David is the narrator and having David as a narrator just fit so well with the voices and story of chitty chitty bang bang.

Overall, i Really liked it. I can fall asleep to it easily, it is great for trips, and i think all ages will enjoy this as it has action, adventure, and its just a great story overall.

I highly recommend this audiobook if you have kids or just if your bored. It is great for all ages and i really enjoyed listening to it with my kids, they enjoyed just as much as i did.

Great story

If you could sum up Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in three words, what would they be?

Classic clean fun

What did you like best about this story?

First, I love anything read by David Tennant. Second, it's just such a classic story. My six-year-old loved listening to this book. She's a tomboy and loves anything about cars. But having it read by David Tennant makes it even better.

What about David Tennant’s performance did you like?

He's a phenomenal reader. His accent is to die for. I could listen to him for hours. He's at his best in the "How to Train Your Dragon" series. I'd listen to the entire series again just b/c of him.

A classic!

Any additional comments?

This was a wonderful story and well narrated. My 6-year old thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story during our morning commute - he was riveted and I enjoyed it to. So many funny and surprising moments.

What a wonderful ride!

I grew up with the Disney version of this story; I had no idea that the original novella was written by the author of the James Bond novels, Ian Fleming. Fleming initially created it as a bedtime story for his son Caspar, and wrote it down (in longhand, as his doctors had forbidden him a typewriter) whilst recuperating in the hospital after a heart attack. Sadly, Fleming did not live to see the book published, having suffered a second heart attack in August 1964.

The book and movie begin the same way: eccentric inventor Caracticus “Crack” Pott, having come into a windfall after selling one of his inventions, uses some of the money to buy and restore a 1920’s era race car. His children, twins Jeremy and Jemima, declare it the most beautiful car in the world, and christen it “Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang,”after the distinctive noises it makes when starting up. They believe the car to be magical.

When the car is up and running, Pott uses it to take his wife and children on a picnic to the seashore (wife Mimzy is absent from the movie version, in which Pott is portrayed as a widower).

What happens next is where the book and movie diverge. I won’t spoil the plot by giving any details; suffice it to say that the children’s opinion of the car is justified.

David Tennant’s narration is marvelous, as usual. I can imagine him telling stories like this one to his own children (of which he has 5 in real life).

Delightful story and narration

Not a huge story line to this book but it is fun and as always David Tennant delivers a terrific performance.

I've seen the movie multiple times, this is very unlike it, but the story is still FANTASTIC! David Tennant gives a magnificent performance. I'll listen again!

I loved David Tennant's reading of this. Also, I had no idea Ian Flemming was the author of the James Bond series.

Wonderful!

I had absolutely no idea that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang wasn't a Disney creation. When I found out it was written by Ian Flemming, I had to get it! The creator of James Bond wrote the story that led to one of my favorite childhood movies! To top it off, this is narrated by David Tennant! The movie is clearly a very loose adaptation of the book. This definitely had an Ian Flemming feel to it with bad guys, car chases, and explosions. The movie was definitely better, but I still enjoyed the book.

Soooo different
