Publisher's summary

People are hungry for hope. They want to understand our human condition—its origin, nature, purpose, and destiny. The Christian faith offers hope for individuals and the entire universe, grounded in absolute truth. But how can we know that Christianity is true? And how can Christians confidently present their beliefs in the face of doubts and competing views?

In this comprehensive text, Douglas Groothuis makes a clear and rigorous case for Christian theism. Demonstrating how apologetics must be both rational and winsome, he addresses the most common questions and objections people raise regarding Christianity. After laying a foundation with the biblical basis for apologetics, apologetic method, and a defense of objective truth, he presents key arguments for the reality of God, a case for the credibility of Jesus, and evidence for the resurrection. Groothuis also evaluates alternative views and responds to challenges such as religious pluralism and the problem of evil.

The second edition of this landmark work has been updated throughout to address current issues and sources. It includes new chapters on topics such as doubt and the hiddenness of God, the atonement, the church, and lament as a Christian apologetic.

Christian Apologetics - winsome and coherent

Douglas Groothius presents a rigorous defense of Christianity and Christian theism. This textbook is frequently used in universities and I can see why. Too many apologetics texts are lackluster, elementary, or too technical for the laymen to pick up and read. This book bridges that gap and is very accessible for the laymen who is looking for something that isn't too wordy and technical as well as for the accomplished scholar. Happy to see this book in Audible format now.

Christian Apologetics

This book was a very precise, thorough, and pleasant introduction and then some, of arguments in defense of Christianity. It was my first venture into said topic. I will listen to it annually as it has a lot of material that I would love to commit to memory.

Outstanding indepth book

For the depth of this subject, it was easy to read and absorb the information and reasoning in each section. I highly recommend it. A book to keep and refer back to often, either as audio or hard copy. I ended up with both and no regrets in doing so!

very informative

loved the book, after canceling audible membership. since censorship has become common place, it's much more accommodating for all to buy physical books. Prior to censorship by Google / Youtube ( more than Red China) audible was past tense a great platform.

The importance of apologetics

This is a rich book filled with rational argument based on scripture in the defense of the faith. Anyone wanting to become an apologetics practitioner need to read and listen to this book frequently. It is my intention to do that.
