About this listen

Carter is an insurance adjuster whose longing for creative expression spills over sometimes into his accident reports. Abby works for her adoptive father, Uncle Mannie, in the family bookstore, the ReadMore Cafe. Carter barely tolerates Christmas; Abby loves it. She can't wait past October to build her favorite display, the annual Christmas book tree stack, which Carter despises.

When an automobile accident throws Carter and Abby together, Uncle Mannie, who is harboring secrets of his own, sees a chance for lasting happiness for his little girl. But there are so many hurdles, and not much time left.

Will this Christmas deliver the miracle everyone is hoping for?

Where love and Christmas are concerned, there are no accidents.

A winkin' blinkin' and nod to Christmas stories

This is a bit different from your average Christmas book. It starts as a tongue-in-cheek, wink and a nod to Christmas stories, done with a masculine bent. Mr. Wright doesn't shy away from giving us drama mixed in with some clichéd tropes, OTT metaphors and punny dad jokes. Like all Christmas tales, it's meant to be whimsical yet sentimental while sending a heartwarming message, and it delivers on all those counts

Like the title suggests, there are plenty of accidents in this story—accidents with silver linings that bring people together. Would you call those happy accidents or would you call them Christmas miracles? Family discord and job dissatisfaction have turned our MMC Carter Cross into a cynic, especially about Christmas. But he learns from Abby McBride that happiness is, at least in part, a choice you can make for yourself. Life is about change so embrace that and keep moving forward.

I both listened to and read this story, but I liked it best in audio format. The narrator does a lot of accents that make it fun and easy to distinguish the characters. It's easier though to catch all the little quips when reading the ebook. One last nod to Christmas stories comes after the story ends—several holiday recipes for us to try and enjoy. This was a great little holiday book that I will look forward to hearing again from year to year.

Good story if you can get past his overdescriptive style.

This is a sweet Christmas story of a wanna be author and a bookstore owner. I really hope that the author is having an I side joke with us, because I have never seen so many tortured and awkward metaphors in one book. I think he used every adjective and adverb he knew.
