Publisher's summary

The CIH Exam Essential Practice Questions by Farcas and Cena is, as the name implies, an essential set of questions in industrial hygiene. It is well laid out in 17 sections. The questions are well introduced with a short narrative before the introduction of the pertinent equations and solution to the over 500 example problems. The book serves not only as a formidable preparation for the CIH exam, but a good review of basic principles, a reference for many of the day-to-day technical issues confronting the practicing industrial hygienist and a guide for raising awareness of potential problems for which alert action is required.

"The authors bring a breadth of experience and insight into the issues handled in the text. They bring context to the basic principles to be highlighted by the examples of the questions and their solutions. This should be a must-have text for everyone in the field.” (Michael McCawley, PhD)

A solid tool for CIH exam study

I used this to supplement my studies as a polishing tool. It covers a broad range, and is not to be missed for anyone who is within 1 month of their exam.

Useful study tool, just get past the accent

The content in the book is a great overview of IH topics, with specific examples one would expect to see on the CIH exam and in IH practice. It is well-known in the IH community as one of the very helpful study guides for folks wanting to get certification. I'm listening to it while commuting as part of my CIH exam studies, and by the second listen, I had much-needed confidence with some subject matter.

That being said, Dr. Farcas is not originally from an English-speaking country, and his accent is pretty strong. If you have no problem adjusting to accents, like me, this likely will not be much of a problem. If you're unsure. listen to the sample and decide whether you can learn scientific/technical information with new pronunciations. Either way, since some topics require information that is best digested as written material, I recommend having a written copy of the book, too.

If this were re-recorded with a narrator for whom English is a first language, it would be a no-brainer listen for IHs. But with such a small potential audience, I doubt that is in the cards.

Good content bad accent.

I have read several of these books before however, the narrated version of this book is nearly incomprehensible.
