About this listen

Sometimes, the hero must be the villain....

Fourteen months ago, Lady Rhoslyn lost her husband and infant son to a fever. Now, by order of King Edward I, she is yanked from the healing tranquility of a convent to marry the king's favored bastard knight. Rhoslyn has no intention of returning to the home where her husband and child died. Neither does she intend to hand over her fortune to the "dragon" - no matter his sweet promises and warm kisses.

Talbot St. Claire tires of war. Seventeen years is enough. King Edward will never release him from service, but the king promises Talbot will find some peace in front of his own hearth. Talbot expects to find a horse-faced, hostile woman in the Scottish heiress Edward commands him to marry. Instead, he discovers a fiery Highland beauty worthy of a man's respect...and love. Talbot determines to do anything to win his new bride's acceptance, anything except the one thing she demands: betray his king and embrace his Scottish heritage.

Claimed by 5 star love

A fast pace Medival love story . A great listen by Tarah Scott . This is the 4th audio by Tarah . It was during King Edward the first (1272) . Sir Talbot Sinclair was a favorite of King Edward . He was given a bride and home (with Castles and land ) in Scotland as a thank you for winning the war in Wales. Sir Talbot mother and father were not married but King Edward made him Legitimate and rose Sir Talbot in Standing . On his way to collect his suppose wife (Roselyn) from a convent Sir Talbot finds out her Grandfather was spiriting her away for someone else . Lots of twists with Revenge , Treason and Betrayal but finally love .

Fiesty and Sexy

What made the experience of listening to Claimed the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed Mr. Worsley's Scottish and English accents. Ms. Scott writes a wonderful tale there's romance, mystery, fighting, humor...all a great combination in telling a tale.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Claimed?

I loved the scene with the goat...don't want to spoil anything with more details.

Which character – as performed by Steve Worsley – was your favorite?

Mr. Worsley captured St. Claire's essence. (although I thought he was saying Sinclaire)

From the first paragraph...

it held my interest. The story had some little twists and turns to not make it formulaic as romance stories can go. Loved the characters...I'd try reading another story by this author.

Really Great Book

Would you listen to Claimed again? Why?

Yes. This book started a little slow for me but it picked up quickly and I had a hard time putting it down.

What other book might you compare Claimed to and why?

This book is very similar to most Historical Scottish romances. Each have their own twists and turns.

What about Steve Worsley’s performance did you like?

I was suprised that I like him because I'm usually not that fond of men narrator's in my romance novels. But he did a great job and he did the female voices very well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Definitely will claim your heart.

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast.

Lady Rhoslyn Harper has been sequestered with a cloister of nuns for the past fourteen months, grieving the loss of her husband and infant son to a fever. Out of the blue, a group of her grandfather’s knights appears and insists that she leave with them. She has been promised in marriage, by King Edward of England, to his favored knight, Talbot St. Claire. Rhoslyn vows that she will never relinquish her lands, her wealth, or her heart to the Dragon.

Talbot is tired of war and wishes only to settle into a quiet life with the woman his King has chosen for him. Knowing the lady that has been promised to him is a widow and has had no other offers of marriage in the fourteen months since her husband passed, Talbot is not expecting much in the way of looks or fond emotions from her. He is very surprised to find himself betrothed to a beautiful, feisty woman who immediately takes his heart prisoner. He will do almost anything to gain her love and trust. Anything, except acknowledge his true Scottish ancestry.

This is a well-crafted story with lots of unexpected twists that will keep you engaged from beginning to end. The main characters carry the story along smoothly while all of the supporting characters add strength and intrigue keeping the reader totally involved. The intricate details of their lives are weaved seamlessly into the story bringing it all together.

The narration was adequate though I would’ve liked to hear a little more emotion. I always enjoy a good Scottish accent when I’m listening to a Highlander book. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’ll be looking for other titles in the series.

Apologies narrator. You were not so good.

Good story but female characters need more substance. Struggled to finish due to narration, monotone.

DNF @26%..

I can’t listen to any more of this. The narrator is just terrible. I have to agree with reviewer Dugout on this one. Steve Worsley goes from reading like a robot to just reading the book, without any kind of emotion whatsoever. He will be on my DNL narrator’s list. This sounded like a good story but, as always, a narrator can simply ruin a book. And the fact that every character has the same voice doesn’t work for me. He doesn’t even attempt to make the women sound a little feminine. Rhoslyn sounded just like a man. I can overlook that if it’s a maid or cook but not the heroine. I absolutely hated it when Rhoslyn spoke, she sounded so manly.

To be fair to the author I’ll leave 3 stars for Overall and Story. Can’t punish the author for an awful narrator.

Held my breath many times while listening!

Any additional comments?

There's a time when you're listening to a good book that you can get so wrapped up in it and forget it's not happening right in front of you. That happened so many times in this book. Kudos to the author and narrator.

This was a good love story and the bad guys had a great degree of ick, but the action sequences were incredible!! Heart poundingly incredible. Several times I even stopped breathing the action was so intense.

I didn't like the ending (a major issue was not succinctly resolved) but that did not deter from such a wonderful listen.
