The reader does just that, read. In previous books, Eddy Lee, at least sounded more like a high schooler, and even tried to talk like a female. Zions Jong is not bad for a reader, however he makes the characters sound like grown men. It detracts from the story's presentation.

The new narrator, is sadly missing the mark. While his pronunciation and speed is good, he is sadly failing in giving the MC a voice. Suddenly the MC sound like some stuck up, wanna be Sherlock Holmes/English aristocrat, who is perpetually annoyed with his surroundings instead of like a teenage boy of high school age. This is very distracting.

I’ve been reading the light novel up until this point. Then I finally saw that all of these were free on Audible, so I was happy to start listening instead. That being said, normally, I never complain about narrators as I think 99% of the time, people complain for no real reason. This time, though, I do have a small reason to complain in that the narrator doesn’t really change their voice between characters, especially when it comes to female characters. This makes it extremely hard to follow something that’s already a bit difficult to keep track of. It’s not just because of the light novel l nature of having somewhat confusing Japanese character names /switching between calling people by there first and last names, but more due to the content of the story itself. That being said, this is really just a minor gripe. The story is pretty good overall, so I’m extremely happy to continue listening to it, instead of reading the physical novels. This has really brought me back to this series and I am happy for that and to continue sharing my thoughts on it.

I've been loving the story so far, but I really don't like the change in narrator. I never really like when the narrator is changed mid series after you get used to the characters voices, but this one is just a total downgrade. The audio quality is really distracting and I don't like how the characters sound now.

Zion is no Eddy Lee, the story is top notch but without Eddy it feels like it’s just not being told right. I’ll find it hard to continue this audible series without Eddy Lee.
