About this listen

Seventeen-year-old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They're treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku's wet dream quickly turns into Hajime's nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime's job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith's level of strength?

This is the best anime to novel I have ever read. You can feel the author's love bleeding through his words. I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

Even better than the anime

I’ve enjoyed this light novel many times and was excited to see it as a audio book. If there is one thing to improve is have male voice actor handle the male parts and the female voice actor handle the female parts instead of having it split the book in half for one then the other it would improve the immersion and overall quality definitely buying the rest in this series as it my favorite series. Looking forward to seeing them released

Great light novel series

There is nothing more irritating to me then having to deal with a voice actor change in an audio book! Matt Shipman was doing an amazing job. Like seriously he was perfect! I've only watched like the first two or three episodes of anime (so basically just what the light novel covers). Maybe Hajime isn't going to be the central main protagonist but instead builds a party up. I really don't know only the slight spoiler that the second voice actor voices someone who is described as another "main female protagonist" (that wasn't Yue). But a voice actor gives their own unique personality to the character! They breathe life into them making them their own. At least that's what good voice actors do! If I just wanted it narrated I would of bought the light novel and just let the computer read it!

Imagine if they replaced Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones with Gilbert Gottfried halfway through. Nothing wrong with Gilbert Gottfried, but simply portraying a character (reading the script) isn't what made the character of Tyrion Lannister fan favorite, it was literally Peter Dinklage personal portrayal of that character! And to just swap out a main character's actor with another is crazy. I dunno, maybe I'm in the minority. I stopped watching the Witcher series when Henry Cavil left and Liam Hemsworth replaced him. Maybe the show did alright as it hasn't been canceled yet.

Anyway, I would rate this 5 start across the board if Matt Shipman was the only voice actor. Story wise, really good light novel! I highly recommend it.

Very enjoyable. liked the first narrator better and was a bit confused when they switched narrators.

OMG! The producer got the Voice Actor Matt Shipman, Hajime's voice! He is a fantastic voice actor! Obviously, the story is good, too. I hope that you like it.

Matt Shipman is the co-narrator!

I saw the two seasons of the anime first, so the book was a surprise. It’s so much greater in detail…I’m loving it! I can’t wait for the rest of the story!

Great Story, Wanting More!

I was such a big fan of the anime but when I learned that there was a light novel on here I was so excited! It definitely didn’t disappoint! The story was so fun to experience again with all of the extra details that the anime didn’t provide! I cannot wait for the second book!

Better than the anime?!
