About this listen

The wildly popular Korean novels that inspired the hit webtoon!

Ever dreamt of waking up inside a novel? For Kim Roksu, this dream becomes reality when he finds himself in the shoes of Cale Henituse, the lazy, wine-loving son of a count--and punching bag for the novel's destined hero. Determined to dodge his grim fate, this new Cale Henituse vows to rewrite his story, aiming for a life of leisure far from heroic deeds and inevitable beatdowns.

But the path to a peaceful life is twisted by irony. As Cale plots his escape from destiny, he inadvertently gathers a motley crew of magical allies--including a haughty baby dragon and two mischievous kitten shapeshifters. Every attempt to avoid heroism entangles him further in a whirlwind of unforeseen adventures, proving that sometimes the best heroes are the ones who resist the call.

interesting yet natural subversion to the hero archetype.

The MC is a reluctant hero, that's isn't actually poorly veiled as an actual white knight. Yet, his reluctance feels natural and unforced, without devolving into disjointed selfish behavior. I enjoyed this and the manwha as well.

loved the story but the translation lost some culture going to english

the dragon's voice should be cutier. I really enjoyed the story but the slight translation changes made the story lose some charm.

Great start

The story is interesting, the plot is pretty good, the main character isn’t overpowered nor is he a pathetic loser personality like Shinji from evangelion. I would say more about why but that would spoil it.

A really great story

Great start to a series with a smart protagonist. Can't wait to listen/read more about everyone's adventures

A strong male protagonist without the annoying flock of girls

A fun isekia that is oddly more realistic as the mc focuses on how to make his own life better for retirement, the other characters around him are in awe of his clever plans without having every girl of every moe suddenly appearing and throwing themselves on him.

I can’t believe they made it an audiobook!

I’ve read up to chapter 511. I’ve re-read parts multiple times. Hurry up and put more out!

For first time readers/listeners the story just continues to develop and grow. There’s actually planning, there’s wrenches thrown in that cause the plans to change. The fights get better and any tropes you find are done so well you can actually enjoy them.

The voice actor did a good job too. If I had one complaint, it’s that whenever he went to make a noise, like “bang” his hand hit the table, it was cut off. Like the editing wasn’t quite right. Though it only happens there and it’s not often.

Overall, I’m quite happy with how this turned out and can’t wait for the next volume.

Good story

This was a good story, but very predictable in some areas because they followed a bit of a Standard formula for these type of stories. Despite that it was still a good story.
