About this listen

In New York Times best-selling author J. A. Jance's latest thriller, Ali Reynolds faces her most controversial mystery yet: solving the murder of a man whose Ponzi scheme bankrupted hundreds of people and left them seeking justice...or revenge.

When Ali's parents lose their life savings to a Ponzi scheme, her father goes to confront his longtime friend and financial advisor only to stumble into the scene of a bloody double homicide. With her father suddenly a prime suspect, Ali and her husband work to clear her father's name while at the same time seeking justice for her parents as well as the scheme's other suddenly impoverished victims, one of who is a stone-cold killer.

The have enjoyed read J.A. Jance for many many years. The Ali Reynolds series is as good as her Beaumont series. The narrator is fantastic.

They Do Good Work

The heroines and heroes are once again successful in this latest J A Jance book. They not only "do good work," but so does Karen Ziemba whose narration was spot on. Jance's many books speak for themselves, I am but one of many, many fans. Jance is up-to-date with the times, portrays many perspectives well, and is just a darn good story teller. I am grateful she is!!!

Glad that parents got out of the kitchen

This is a Good solid story. Nice introduction of Camille. She adds more diversity to character list and she is a "go-getter"! Looking forward to more stories that include her. Also some interesting new information about Stu. Who knew that he was on the autism spectrum?

Sometimes the pace or numerous provided details are nauseating. When Bob was at the police station, the description of him wetting himself and to watch what he was put through was so painful. The murder scene was very descriptive and long. To hear that Bob slipped in some blood and fell on his dying friend was pitiful. I felt so bad for him. Similarly painful was the minute details about Cami's escape on the golf course. I was yelling "get on with it!"

It Was refreshing to learn that Ali's parents also have some sleuthing skills. It was time for Edie and Bob to get out of the kitchen and enjoy life. Too bad that they lost a good friend and so much money, but I am glad that they contributed to solving the case. Now I would like to know more about Ali's parents' experiences in their new home. I would bet that the residents have a lot secrets to uncover.

Somewhat Disappointed in the cursory appearances of the Sister and the old butler. Why is B so busy? He doesn't seem to spend much time with Ali. He is so concerned about losing her but he flies all over the world and connects mostly via telephone conversations.

I love this series and devour the new books when they become available on audible. I am reading the books in order. Are there only 5? I may have to re-listen to some of the earlier ones because there has been a lot of time in between and I think that I am missing some background information. I was mystified about the refugees that Ali, the Sister and governor were assisting? Where did this storyline come from?

Keep the stories coming about Ali's parents, her son and his family, the butler and his rekindled love, Camille, and the girls who took over the investment company. What about the scholarship winners? So many topics to write about! Keep the narrator because she IS Ali.
