Sam

Nothing in my life is really mine. I take care of my mama, work three jobs, I’m there when anyone needs me. Something about the beautiful, lonely man on my mail route interests me. He’s different in my world, where everything’s the same. I think he hates me, but that doesn’t stop me from hand-delivering every package and trying to find ways to make him smile.

Then Emerson makes me an offer: He’ll pay me to spend the weekends with him, losing ourselves in each other’s bodies, no feelings or pasts involved.

Friday through Sunday become mine, the one thing I do for me. Soon it’s not just the weekends I want, but Emerson. He’s got secrets, though, and won’t let me in.

Emerson

I landed in the small town of Ryland, hoping to disappear. Finding your boyfriend’s body and being accused of his murder will do that to a guy. The deal with Sam is supposed to be strictly physical, but it doesn’t take long for the adorable, sweet man to get under my skin.

I look forward to his corny jokes, get addicted to the feel of his body against mine. He’s got the biggest heart I’ve ever seen, and with each day, each conversation we have, every laugh we share, Sam brings me back to life.

There’s a million reasons I should stay away: I’m broken, 15 years older, too sad, too angry, and can’t let my past get out. But Sam makes me want to fight for my happiness if the reward is him. Because having Sam only for the weekend will never be enough.

Only for the Weekend is a grumpy/sunshine hurt/comfort age-gap romance with two scarred characters who find comfort in each other. There are themes of alcoholism involving a side character.

All the feels!! Loved it!!

At first I thought yeah this is ok... I like it enough but then bam I completely fell in love with these two mc's Emerson and Sam. My heart broke a little bit for both of them and their individual circumstances. Sammie was just the best most lovable and real character... who else could have thawed and worked their self into Emerson's heart!? They both needed each other so much but didn't realize it. I was so happy when they both admitted their feelings. Such a great hea!!This is another one of those couples on my "don't mess with this couple or else" list. 😂🥰

Not only did I love the mc's but there was some great secondary characters, fun banter, lots of steamy times, and I just loved watching these two fall in love. Plus the narration was awesome!!

5 ⭐'s, Highly Recommend

This was a very heart tugging, emotional story but was also very moving and sweet with mutual hurt/comfort. Beautifully well written with wonderful characters that were well developed and a lovely slow burn romance. Due to their agreement the heat is quick but the relationship is developed at a perfect pace of becoming friends (with benefits) first. I liked that Riley breaks up the serious subject matter and tension with some humor even if it was cheesy, it was deliberate cheeseynsss that you can't help but giggle at. I was sucked in from start to finish. Another great one from Riley.

I am already listening to this right after reading the arc. Just a great a 2nd time and John Solo puts all his emotion into bringing this story to life.

Totally worth it

At first, it was a little difficult to get through. But they begin to really identify with the characters and their story arc the both damaged but there’s something about them that just made me fall in love.
There are a couple of supporting characters that are fascinating. Also, I wouldn’t mind hearing their stories.
All in all, it was a great experience, and the very end brought a tear to my eye. And a runny nose.

Riley Hart does it again

Riley Hart is always so good at creating characters you connect with and finding that balance between lighthearted moments and heavy life stuff so the book is still enjoyable but not all fluff.
John Solo is still John Solo. He's noy my favorite narrator but he does a good job and doesn't detract from the story. Usually it's a bit hard for me to tell characters apart with him but Sam has a southren accent so that helps. My only issue was it was hard to tell sometimes if a character was just thinking or saying something outloud

Love the story, characters & narration

I expect romances formulaic and saccharine, but took a chance here. After a few chapters I began to love it, especially Sam, the beautiful postman. He is unfailingly optimistic, loving, nurturing and brave. It takes courage and self-esteem to see through a cynical curmudgeon to find someone simply craving love.
The Southern setting is not the caricature put forth my some media. The characters are easy to care about and they catalyze each others' growth, sex was interesting too.
This isn't perfect or great-fiction but I loved reading it. Recommended.
