About this listen

A woman on the run must confront her dark past at her family’s home in Cincinnati in this thrilling novel of romantic suspense from New York Times bestselling author Karen Rose.

Psychologist Faith Corcoran is desperate to escape the stalker who’s made her life a nightmare for the past year—desperate enough to run to the one place that has been her nightmare far longer. Her recent inheritance of her grandmother’s old house in Cincinnati offers sanctuary in which she can start her life anew, but requires that she face the dark memories that still resonate to this day. But she has no idea how close to home her fears still are...

Two college girls have gone missing in the area, and FBI Special Agent Deacon Novak is called to work on the case. When his inquiry unexpectedly leads him to Faith, he finds a beautiful and brave woman he can’t help but fall for. Soon they’ll discover that this seemingly simple investigation is anything but. Reaching back decades into Faith’s own past, it will shatter everything she believes to be true and will give terrifying new meaning to flesh and blood.

Entertaining story that keeps you guessing

Overall, this was an enjoyable book to listen to. Nothing spectacular, but certainly entertaining.
It starts out very dark, but the storyline and characters voices pull you into the story quickly. I looked forward to listening and finding out more all the way to the end.
I did find the romance that develops to be pretty unrealistic and a bit annoying- I think it distracted from the bigger story, but some people may enjoy that.
Also, the narrator mispronounced the name of the town Mt. Carmel incorrectly throughout the entire novel. Given that it’s a primary scene of much of the book, it did get a bit annoying to hear it mispronounced over and over. If you are a Cincinnatian, this may catch your attention as a distraction. If you aren’t familiar with the real location of Mt. Carmel, Ohio then it probably wouldn’t be an issue for you.

Good storyline well paced well narrated

Good book! I listen to a lot of audio books and can go through them fairly quick. I especially liked the length of this one and liked that the storyline kept a good pace and did not get stale. The narration was great as well - always a fan of Hillary Huber! Can’t wait to finish the series.

Long and drawn out

The story was okay but it felt drawn out a bit. I was kind of surprised when killer was revealed. The characters were very different.
