About this listen

Walking around New York City was what Mitty Blake did best. He loved the city, and even after 9/11, he always felt safe. Mitty was a carefree guy - he didnt worry about terrorists or blackouts or grades or anything, which is why he was late getting started on his Advanced Bio report. Mitty does feel a little pressure to hand something in. If he doesnt, he'll be switched out of Advanced Bio, which would be unfortunate since Olivia's in Advanced Bio. So he considers it good luck when he finds some old medical books in his familys weekend house that focus on something he could write about. But when he discovers an old envelope with two scabs in one of the books, the report is no longer about the grade...it's about life and death. His own.©2007 Caroline B. Cooney (P)2009 Audible, Inc. Mild interest

The book was only mildly interesting. Good read but no cliffhangers or surprise ending. Someone i interested in disease may like it.

good not great

When I originally started this book I thought it was an interesting concept. As I read the book I never stopped thinking this but I did find it crony at times. The book differently caters to a younger audience but when it tries to scare or become serious it just fall short of making it seem realistic. It seems like a movie or tv show you find on Netflix or on Teen Nick.

So Funny

I laughed so hard at the young kid who is the worst (best?) procrastinator in literature. I’ve got to give this book full props for depicting NYC really well. I lived in an UWS coop for 8 years and the atmosphere and descriptive detail is dead on.

Interesting!

More interesting than I expected! Wasn't sure what to think, but I did end up enjoying it.

this is a great story, but has a rushed ending

I think the idea behind code Orange is great. It is definitely a quick read you want to keep reading but then I felt that the ending was rushed and and didn't really give me a satisfied feeling.

Relevant in Our “Covid” World

The story moves fast in the beginning, lags to an almost standstill with Mitty’s internal conflict, and then intensifies in the last third of the book. I’m glad I read it, but I won’t be recommending to many friends.

Bought it for my son, but we all enjoyed it

Would you consider the audio edition of Code Orange to be better than the print version?

My son is an auditory learner, and this helped him to better understand and read the assigned novel.

Any additional comments?

Even though I bought this audiobook to help my son with his assigned reading for school, my whole family listened because the story and presentation was good and interesting.

disappointed

The beginning of this book was impressive - the author just didn't follow through to a worthy end. A lazy ending.

A perfect choice for my 7th grade science class!

If you could sum up Code Orange in three words, what would they be?

Anxious, Hopeful, Triumphant

What did you like best about this story?

The strong character of the protagonist. He is the epitome of an All-American boy with a hero's heart.

What about Jeremy Beck???s performance did you like?

The performance was smooth and clear. Very nice job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It had very funny parts! Also, if it doesn't make you want to cry at the end, you will certainly get warm fuzzies!

Any additional comments?

I used this to teach infectious disease to my 7th grade science class. They're a tough sell and they LOVED it!
