I love this series but have to admit, this one was difficult to read and listen to. I had to stop during a scene that was just too heartbreaking and I found myself crying tears of anger and of sadness. I won't give anything away. Those who have read or listened, will know.

The characters and the part they play are just wonderful to follow. The mystery almost seems secondary if you have been with Grimm from the beginning. The plot is covered in the review, but just download and enjoy the ride.

I voraciously consume English murder series and this by far is my absolute favorite. I love the way the author paints a vivid picture of the Dales and all of the main characters are really likeable. Even Harry with his ill temper!

Aubrey Parsons is also a fabulous narrator. From book to book he keeps the same voices for the different characters so it is really easy to know who is speaking.

If you like mysteries set in the countryside of Northern England you will love this series.

Love reading and suddenly delightfully being surprised settings and places mentioned where I’ve visited in the beautiful Dales. Specifically, in this book, Bolton Arms & the church in Askrigg.

this book is a dark book, exploring the realistic dark nature of hate crimes as well as human beings in general. characters are further developed and the plot has plenty of twists and turns.
