Publisher's summary

For the first time in years, things are going well for Long Beach homicide detective Danny Beckett. He's closing cases with his partner, Jennifer Tanaka, and keeping a spare suit at the condo of his girlfriend, Julia Rice. But Danny's peace is shattered when he's called to investigate an apparent suicide - one that quickly reveals itself to be murder.

Just as Danny begins to investigate, a bomb detonates in his car while it's parked in a mechanic's lot, sidelining him from both the murder case and the hunt for his own assassin. Placed in protective custody at the home of his partner, the headstrong investigator must resist the temptation to break protocol - and find the willpower to stop his own self-destructive behavior before it threatens his two most important relationships. But what happens when Danny must choose between following the rules and saving a life?

LOVE!

I love this book, the rest of the books in the series, Tyler Dilts, and the fact that Mr. Dilts narrated it himself. I was sad to see it end, and hope there will be another installment soon!

Entertains

What makes a good book to me is an ability to connect with characters quickly so I'm invested in what happens to them. This book achieved that end and I very much enjoyed listening.

So close to being five stars

I love Tyler Dilts's writing and have been looking forward to this book. The writing is excellent and I like the author's narration. It has an interesting storyline, if a little disjointed here and there. But having Danny miss the elephant in the living room? Really?

An awesome book, and a great addition to a great series.

I was very excited to see a new book in this series and this one didn't disappoint. Not so sure Dilts is the right narrator but other than that I loved it.

Author narrates well

I think I know how difficult it is, and how much raw talent is needed to narrate a book, and I was thoroughly impressed with how well the author did in narrating this excellent detective story.

Lacks Punch

Have enjoyed the prior books in this series however not this one. The author as narrator did not work as his tone was too flat sounding depressed.

Very good police procedural / mystery

Somewhat convoluted, but well constructed story. Major characters are well-drawn as are some of the secondary characters. I'll be going back to read or listen to the first three in the series. The author does a nice job reading his own book.

Another great story from Tyler Dilts

Would you listen to Come Twilight again? Why?

I probably would not. Tyler is a great author but not a good narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It is a toss up between Danny and Jen. They both bring unique perspective to the story, and Jen keeps Danny in line (sometimes)

Did Tyler Dilts do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

He did a bad job. Without the he said he said it would be impossible to differ between characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

All of Tyler's books make me both laugh and cry. However his inability to give each character detracted from that..

Any additional comments?

Please continue the series, but please bring back either of the other narrators.

I almost always like when authors perform

their own work. and this was perfect.
The story is good; there are characters I like and characters I don't which implies good character d3velopment. looking forward to the next ....

loved this series

I really enjoyed these books... being someone who deals with chronic pain I knew exactly what Danny was going through in trying to just make it through his day. I would love for this series to continue.
