About this listen

What begins as a pleasant holiday with a new friend in Brighton quickly turns to devastation for Anabelle Milton when she receives the tragic news: her parents are dead. Turned out of the only home she’s ever known, Anabelle is sent to live with an aunt and uncle who are strangers to her. Heartbroken, she arrives at Bellingham Cottage, a cozy home on the sprawling grounds of the Bellingham estate, to find an unexpectedly warm welcome - not only from her own family but also from the family of their aristocratic neighbors, Lord and Lady Bellingham.

Anabelle soon attracts the attention of the heirs of Bellingham - brothers who, though connected by blood, could not be more different. As she slowly begins to distance herself from the polite and obedient young woman her mother trained her to be, Anabelle is free for the first time to choose her own path. She knows she must be true to herself, even if it means risking unrequited love - but can she trust that the gentleman who has stolen her heart will not break it?

Engaging and clean

I prefer stories that leave room for imagination and that I might recommend to any friend. Engaging and believable.

Looking for more.

when I finished this book, I immediately looked for more by this author and was chagrined to find out that this is her first and only book. I hope she continues to write more clean, wholesome novels. Narrator was good too.

Beautiful story

I loved this book, I have now found another wonderful author. The voice that was used for the audible book was also amazing.

Well Worth the Credit

Books like this (and narrators like Noah Wall) are why I absolutely love Audible and historical romances. It takes a gifted author to write gripping, heart-pounding romantic tension without resorting to the cheap, graphic content many other authors rely on. Katie Stewart Stone does just that. Her style of writing is similar to that of Edenbrooke and Blackmoore, two of my favorite novels by Julianne Donaldson.

If you dream of strong, honorable, and swoon-worthy heroes, bad guys you love to hate, interestingly complex heroines and supporting characters, romantic gazes and phrases that squeeze your heart, and sigh-inducing happily ever afters..this book is for you.

A good story, strong characters,

Narrator a bit slow helps to put on faster speed.
the ending felt too rushed.

Disturbing character

I enjoyed most of this story, even though I didn’t really like the main character that much the character Nathan was so disturbing I had to skip the last quarter of the book. I could tell he was going to do some pretty creepy stuff and I really don’t enjoy that kind of a read. It’s nice to have a “clean” romance but the stress of someone so bad in the story was too much for me. The narrator did a good job.
