About this listen

Despite living at her father’s inn her entire life, Elizabeth Doyle has always managed to avoid involvement with the smugglers who frequently gather there. Until now. When a handsome smuggler is brought to her with dire injuries, Elizabeth risks everything to hide him - completely unaware that the wounded man is not who he appears to be.

When an opportunity arises to infiltrate the notorious smuggling gang he believes caused his father’s death, Jonas Ainsworth, the Viscount Langton, pretends to be one of them. But when he is wounded midcharade, Jonas’s life is placed in the hands of an unlikely savior: a smuggler’s daughter. Forced to flee before his wounds have fully healed, he does not think he will ever see her again - until she appears on his doorstep, seeking safe haven.

Divided by their social standings yet united in their mutual desire to expose the leader of the smuggling ring, Jonas and Elizabeth are undeniably drawn to each other. Neither realizes, however, that they are dangerously close to uncovering explosive secrets from the past - secrets that will alter the course of their lives forever.

Predictable

An easy listen and cute story, however it was very predictable from the start of the story.

Clean and sweet

The Narrator squeezes herself to speak. I do not enjoy listening to her, pardon the frankness.
The story is lovely.

The Noble Smuggler

This is the first book that I have read written by Sian Ann Beasley and I look forward to reading many more of her books. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the history behind it. I would recommend this book.📖

EXCELLENT NARRATOR

Loved the story and friction between characters. Appreciated author's historical explanation of smugglers along Kent coast, high tax placed on tea, and how difficult it was to catch the leaders who often were leading members of Parliament. Great writing.

Captivating clean romance with a mystery to be solved

I really enjoyed this book! It has a hint of, “the Scarlet Pimpernel“ and the appeal of a Jane Austen novel. I was so hooked I stayed up reading half the night to finish it.while I doubt the reality of the situation would’ve played out quite in this way, it was enjoyable to read a story with likable, kind, and well-meaning characters. The bad guys, were seriously bad guys. And there is a little bit of violence in here, although not graphic for those of you who are concerned about that. The bottom line is, I loved reading it, and will read it again. It was an excellent clean romance, with a bit of mystery.

a must read

there's a lot to love from this book. the story surrounding the smuggling was fascinating and seemed well researched. I'm not an expert in that history but it was very believable to me. the plot around it was exciting, and well paced. it didn't overpower the love story though.

the main characters were loveable as well. Jonas was honorable and had a deep desire to end the smuggling that took his father's life and I found it a very loveable character trait. he was also calm and collected under pressure and brave, but never stupidly brazen. he was also very realistic in his views though I cannot further explain without spoiling, it was refreshing to see someone so level headed and responsible even in view of his own feelings. it wasn't done in a dramatic way, either. hard to explain but you'll know what I mean. Elizabeth even though a meeker character than we might be used to had inner strength and determination, and was fearless. I really enjoyed her character. also very appropriate for the times. even though she was brave and strong, she was humble without thinking too little of herself or having no self worth, either.

their romance felt very natural and always they looked out for each other. even though there were struggles to their relationship, they never felt frustrating to the reader or like they would be easily solved if they weren't stubborn or would communicate, like in many other books. it was very sweet and romantic, but clean.

the side characters were also well done, really enjoyed Jonas's mom and sister and his friend, whom I believable the next book is about. I'm looking forward to his story as well.

there's more but I've made this review too long. just get the audiobook already!

Fantastic!

This book was wonderful. I was captivated from the first page and was so enveloped in the story I even had butterflies at the end! if that isn't the mark of a good story, I don't know what is. I enjoyed this title so much I also hope to by a copy of the book and would definitely listen to it again as well. this was my first Sian Ann Bessey novel, but it won't be my last!
