Continuing saga of the Jack Ryan storyline

What made the experience of listening to Command Authority the most enjoyable?

Admittedly biased as I have been a Clancy fan for some time. This book does not disappoint and continues with the world of Jack Ryan. Have not had a disatisfied time with any of the books in the series.

Any additional comments?

Sorry that we will not be able to continue to get this type of authoring from Tom Clancy. I personnally will truly miss his books. RIP Tom

LDP kills it!

A great story. One of the better ones, although all the series books are good! But Lou Diamond Phillips’ performance is outstanding. Bummed he doesn’t perform the rest in the Jack Ryan/ Jack Ryan Jr books.

Great if you've been following later Clancy works

If you could sum up Command Authority in three words, what would they be?

Spies Soldiers Secrets

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes and no, Clancy has these sprints that you go through and then cool down, and then rev back up and go through again. It's good, and it keeps you in the loop - but it can be draining.

Which scene was your favorite?

The spy scene in the Ukraine

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

no, this is your typical Clancy book

Any additional comments?

If you've been reading the last few Clancy books, this is no different. It picks up where the last one left off and it's got some nice narrative. LDP does a great job (I LOVE his readings) on this and does well in drawing you in. I would recommend if your a later Clancy book lover. Some who were Red October and Rainbow 6 may not like the later turn, so if you've got one of the newer books and haven't read them yet - do that before picking up this one.

Good storyline with great narration. Would listen again for more details. I'm certain that some were missed.

Classic Clancy plot characters & military details

went back through some old titles I wasn't sure I had listed too. it had been so long since I listened to this book, I forgot the story and plot until I was a few chapters into it. I've gotten use to Scott Brick's performances of the characters, but other than that, I found the rich depth of story plot, characters, and military details mesmerizing. I had kind of forgot what a master writer Tom Clancy was. I appreciate all the writers who have enabled the charaters to live on, but no one has yet to hold a candle to the depth delivered by Clancy himself! Just amazing!

Delivers as expected

This was another great Jack Ryan Jr story. My only disappointment was that the conclusion was rushed. Other than that it was fun to listen too.

Best narration.

What made the experience of listening to Command Authority the most enjoyable?

The actor that reads the book is the best of the entire series. His use of accents is superior.Lou Diamond Phillips is one of the best I've heard.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maybe Jack Jr. or Chavez. Heck I like em all except maybe those Ivans..

Have you listened to any of Lou Diamond Phillips’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes and this one was as good if not better than others. He is so versatile with so many accents I feel like they have a cast doing the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several but I don't want to be a spoiler.

Any additional comments?

Great job Lou and same for the lads that wrote this book.

Great story in real time but a bit confusing

Great real time story, but disconcerting by continually flipping back and forth 30 years to tell parts of both Jack Ryan and his father. got confusing.
