About this listen

My life was lived in a shroud of darkness. I existed in a vacuum filled with sadness, despair, insecurity, and abuse. Long, horrible days gave way to miserable, lonely nights. No one wanted to be me - least of all me. I was on my own. In my world, there was no God.

But a string of life-changing events altered my stance. Some might call it blind ambition. Others might say supernatural phenomenon. I call it light proof that God never left me. Despite all the horrors I’d endured, He remained steadfastly by my side.

This is my story: the story of how someone who has known an unfathomable amount of pain and heartache found their way to the other side and formed a deep connection with God.

Couldn't relate

I agree with the other review. A sad and shocking story but not in a way that makes you feel sorry for the author.

Intriguing story

Having lived on a path of darkness myself though not as intense, I was able to relate. I am proud of my auntie Isela and who she has become. God bless!!

Very Disappointing and a waste of my time

This story was very disappointing and was definitely not what the write-up made it out to be-a story of how God can redeem a messed up life. I kept listening and waiting/hoping to hear this woman come to the end of herself, and cry out to God to be merciful to her--a sinner in need of His grace, I felt it was a waste of time and I heard all kinds of garbage I wish I hadn't.
I cannot recommend this book. to anyone.
For those who are truly seeking to be delivered from a life of sin & death, read the Bible--it contains words of LIFE, confess your sins to God and cry out Jesus, He alone can save you and give you, peace with God, everlasting life, and a reason to live!

I just couldn’t finish this book.

This book was supposed to be about someone who had been abused and found Christ and is now a Christian and has an inspiring life. Not the case but one thing she said she is a Christian and even as a big white wedding yet the day of her wedding she is taking a shower and her fiancé is sitting on the edge ofthe bed, because her and Rick her gorgeous fiancé lives together. So not only does she pick and choose what doctrine she is going to follow she also quotesCorinthians 1 passage 13 which describes love which is patient loving not boastful ET see yet throughout the whole book she break the bolts are namebrand clothes are gorgeous husband is great think she’s overcome. I am going to have to pray about this but I felt no compassion for this girl. I felt as if she created issues just to show she got over them. Like she said she has low self-esteem you would never know that reading this book. I thought this was going to be a coming to Jesus story, but it was all about how great she is the money she makes her gorgeous out then her big white wedding been to says her and her husband have such a rare special kind of love. As if even the way her and her often feel about each other is better than the way other people feel about their spouse because God for bid he has the same normal emotions as everyone else.
