About this listen

Thrust into a deadly game....

Avery Lennox has been called many names, but bond mate was never one of them. Her position as Chief Security Officer for Cosmos Raines guarantees that her life will never be boring - especially after her genius boss decides to open a portal between Earth and Baade, a world filled with an annoying, male-dominated species called Prime. But after meeting one particular alien, Avery decides to pursue him through the portal.

The trip to another world was...indescribable, but it’s when she returns home that Avery is in the most danger. Someone else is as fascinated with Core as she is, and believes Avery is the perfect bait.

From the moment Core Ta’Duran met Avery, he was captivated by the human woman who shields herself with an icy demeanor and a gun. Avery knows he wants a lifetime with her, and even though she is fighting their bond, she still appears on his world with a tantalizing offer: three days together with no questions, no ties, and no regrets.

When Core follows Avery back to Earth, he discovers a menacing message left for him: agree to be hunted or Avery dies. Can Avery and Core turn the tables on the ruthless killer who wants to display Core as a trophy in his private collection, or will Core lose the most crucial battle of his life?

I'm NEVER disappointed by SE Smith's books. Great series. Narration very well done, as always.

WELL DONE AGAIN!!!

I have read every book in the series and I have enjoyed them all! I enjoyed reading about the new technology that S. E. Smith has developed for the book. I was especially surprised at the ending of this book!!

Fantastic book!

I was waiting so excitedly for this story to come out. I understand that you have to set up the story. But, for the most part, it was useless information. I love this series and the characters that make up this wonderful world. Fantasy and sexy as sin warriors wanting to find their own bond mates. Core's Attack was such a disappointment. The main H/h were great, and the story inbetween was fantastic, and would have saved this one. But then it ended so abruptly, I felt cheated.

So disappointed...

I wanted to love this story but I think I just was listening to it in my eagerness to get to Runt's story. The book was good and as always I liked how there is somewhat of an overreaching plot of everyone trying to get bond mates. Avery's back story was good and drew you in immediately. We already saw in the foreshadowing of Merrick's book that it would be either Avery or Runt's story. I think we had to wait anyway since it seems like Runt was a little too young for a bond mate but I am anxious to read her story.

Back to Avery and Core. It was a good listen. Samantha was not a narrator I am used to when listening to Mrs. Smith's books but she did okay. I do find that all of the stories are getting a little formulaic, however, sometimes you need predictability.

Afraid to admit

Love this narrator. I would love to have both a male and female narrator but she does a great job on her own.
Avery fights the mate bond because of what happened with her parents. Some of the men that had Merrik are now coming after Avery. Can she accept Core and his love or is she to ingrained in her ways to accept help or love from anyone?

Holding my breath for the next one!

The revenge hunt was good. It was great seeing the tables flipped on Markam. The ending was a surprise.

Love this series

Solid installment in the Cosmo’s Gateway series. As with all Smith books, there’s some overlap. You’ll get this (another) character’s perspective on an event that happened in a previous book, plus more of their own story and action.
We get to enjoy Avery’s story of why she’s so set against a relationship with Core, and how some things are just meant to be. I actually liked this one better than Merrick’s story - more kick butt action.
We also get the set up for the next story - Saving Runt.
Cook does a decent job of narration.
