About this listen

Assistant US attorney Dominic Price is staring down the barrel of his father’s debts. The bullseye on his back makes him a threat to everyone he cares about, so when his lover wants to go public with their relationship, he bolts. Not because he isn’t in love - he can’t stomach the thought of putting Cam in danger.

Kidnap and rescue expert Cameron Byrne is determined to figure out what trouble Nic is running from, but devastating news from home brings him back to Boston and to the cold case that has haunted his family for two decades. Shoving aside his pride, he calls Nic for help.

Together they search for answers, navigating the minefield of Cam’s past. But when they get too close to the truth, Cam must use every skill in his arsenal to save the man he loves…before it’s too late.

Awesome continuation to this series

So much went on in this book & keep me up half the night as I had to finish it. We still have the mess that Nic's father is in & by extension Nic as Vaughan doesn't believe that Nic is not involved with his father. Cam gets a call from his family back in Boston telling him he needs to come home as his mother is in the hospital. While visiting her, she makes him promise to solve the mystery of the disappearance of his sister. A new girl is missing & they think that it might be related to Erin's case and Cam and Nic are working on solving that at the same time Cam worrying about his mother. We also find out that Cam is not out to his family. We do get closure on the cold case & it brings piece to Cam & his family. We also get a glimpse on who the initials that are tattooed on Nic's back is. But I know there is more to that story and I have a feeling that will pop up in future books. We get to spend some time with Whiskey & Irish and I'm glad that Nic has brought in extra help to work on the Vaughan issue. I so can't wait for the next book to come out as I need more.

Great narration...

The narrator just brought Nic and Cam to life so beautifully.

I binged the entire 3 book series and my ears are especially happy. The suspense in their journey kept me listening long after I should have paused for the night. The slow burn of their relationship was just perfect and while the sexy time was steam-meeee, it wasn't what the plot line revolved around. While Nic could have dialed back his, "it's all my fault, or I'm not worthy" moments, the conclusion of this story was totally satisfying.

Aiden's accent?

I really love Reyne's books - both trilogies are absolutely amazing and Tristan James does a phenomenal job with all the characters. He's definitely one of my favorite narrators. However, halfway through this one, suddenly Aiden is no longer Irish. Like noticeably no longer Irish. It was a little jarring. Thankfully, it's fixed in Book 3, but just wanted to give a heads up.

Imperial Stout, Craft Brew & Noble Hops

Would I listen to it again: absolutely
Did the story keep me engaged: completely
Was I invested in the characters: totally

Story comment: I dove straight into the Trouble Brewing series after finishing the Agents Irish & Whiskey series. This review encompasses the three Trouble Brewing series books (Imperial Stout, Craft Brew and Noble Hops) because I see the three books as the whole story.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Nic and Cam's characters, their banter, the way they worked, bounced off and grounded each other completely drew me in and the action and adventure of this series kept me completely immersed. Each book has a good pace, and I enjoyed the overall story-arc of the series. Nic is my favorite character in the Whiskey world books and his story (Noble Hops) was my favorite.

Narrator comment: I enjoyed Tristan James's narration and think he's done a great job narrating this series. There are a variety of accents and character personalities in the 7 available books in the Whiskey world series and it's spin-off's and they have all remained consistent and reflected the personalities of their characters.

This series will happily go onto my "re-listen" list 😊 I was completely immersed in the adventures and wish there were more.

Ridiculous book

Terrible. Jumped from scene to scene without a bridge or smooth flow. I have no idea what the end was trying to convey.
