About this listen

Fan-adored author Joanne Fluke always satisfies the cravings of listeners who like their mysteries served with a sugary sweet confection. Hannah Swensen, like most women in Lake Eden, Minnesota, is not a fan of Ronni Ward - the man-stealing gym bunny. So when Ronni turns up lifeless in a jacuzzi - accompanied by one of Hannah's cream puffs - the long list of suspects begins with Hannah.©2009 Joanne Fluke (P)2009 Recorded Books, LLC Detective Fiction Mystery Romance Romantic Suspense Suspense Women Sleuths Women's Fiction Feel-Good

Too much food not enough plot

I was super excited for a cozy mystery. The only mystery to me was why there was very little mystery and so much food. Being read recipes is not pleasant. Glad I sampled this author under the escape program and didn’t waste a credit. I do think it was a great performance by the narrator.

Great Book. Enjoying Hannah Swenson Mysteries

This book suprised me who actually was the killer. I have enjoyed reading this book and rest of series and bonus there is always recipes included you can even try. i like going through the mystery and trying to solve it too. One down side maybe it can be fixed to change the chapter number it read to what it shows on the screen for this audio book it was reading chapter numbers we didnt have in audio list. Tthe chapters listed was up to 16 on audible but it was read as chapter 30 durng chapter 16 and most of chapter numbers at beginning of each chapter were read outloud as a higher number. as far as I can tell.the book was complete in this audio version. it puzzled me at first I thought I had skipped alot. After that I just watched the chapter numbers listed in audible and bookmarked more so if I fell asleep I could easily find where I left off.

Love Hannah Swenson

I an hooked on Hannah Swenson books. Joanne Fluke know how to write a book to keep you interested. And some of the recipes are terrific. At least the ones I've tried. Can't wait to start another now.

Dump Mike

I have read all of the series so far and find it unbelievable that two attractive men would be willing to wait for seven years with only light kissing. That said, Hannah needs to dump Mike since this is the second time that he has had a sexual relationship with another woman. Mike also lied and said that he didn't do anything until he was found out. Norman is only interested in her; Mike is selfish and self-absorbed. It is getting ridiculous. Hannah needs to choose Norman and move on with her life.

Fun story

Love Hannah, makes me feel like home. Not a fan of how the chapters didn’t line up. When they do it makes it easy to skip through the recipes that you want to.

The Narration is Killing Me Slowly

How could the performance have been better?

This is not the right narrator for this book - or this series of books for that matter. While I'm sure Ms. Toren is talented and does well with other books, she should not be narrating this one. She makes everybody sound like a little old lady - except the men, the men all sound a little like Eeyore. (Seriously, cannot tell the difference between Norman and Mike's "hi, Hannah" and I expect one of them to say, "It's a nice day, if you like them bright and sunny" at any moment.

Any additional comments?

I've been reading the Hannah Swenson books on and off for years, and of course I watch the Hallmark movies. I know there are differences in the Hannah described in the book and Allison Sweeny's Hannah, and generally I'm ok with it. I also know there are differences in the other residents of Lake Eden (between the book and movie versions) - but I have the hardest time with Delores. Maybe it's the narration, but this audiobook make her sound like a nervous, weak, elderly shell of a woman - the movie shows her more confident. I have a hard time reconciling the Delores in my head with this one.

I love the character of Norman.

This story had a great twist in the plot. I never suspected the real killer.
