About this listen

This short story collection will take you into the depths of Beck’s dark imagination: from what happens when the deepest bore hole on Earth has just passed nine miles and hits a strange open space – and it's hellishly hot down there; to an Antarctic research team examining fragments from a deep ice glacier and discovers a tiny seed that, once thawed, grows into something terrifyingly unexpected.

Then there’s the real story of the Titanic, where something horrifying boards the grand ship, and it’s sunk, intentionally – to protect us all. And Beck’s renowned Valkeryn series will finally be concluded in the featured tale 'Revenge of the Wolfen'.

From the bloody to the bizarre, Midnights will push you to the edge, with Greig Beck at the helm and at his frightening best.

an ok collection of stories, some were definitely weaker than others with the last 4 ish hours of it being the conclusion to a series, that as far as i could tell, is not available on audible.

I’ve never been a fan of short stories. I feel the build up of a world shouldn’t be blown away with the shift of the wind. Novels have always been my way, but Beck is my favorite author. His tales build worlds that make you cringe and run- from the book! These shorts did the same thing. A few made you smile, others created surprise and shock. All of them amazing and well worth the listen, read and physical book.
Read this!

Good Book, I found some of the stories funny, Macabre, and intriguing. As usual Greig delivers some grizzly and horrific fates to his characters. Truly a master of leaving you wanting more, can’t wait for his next book!

Classic Greig

I very much enjoyed listening to these stories. I do not normally listen to short stories I like good 16 hours hard sci-fi but I got a weakness for Greg Beck books. these stories do not disappoint a fantastic use of a credit I would do it again 10 times over

great stories

I’d been putting off Midnights for a while, as I don’t usually enjoy short story collections. I prefer getting stuck into a full-length novel where the story has time to breathe. But I finally gave this one a go, and to my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Most of the stories are tight, engaging, and well-paced. A few standouts, like Nine Miles Down and The Voynich Manuscript, easily felt like they could’ve been expanded into full novels. Both had that classic Beck atmosphere and tension, with just enough mystery to leave you wanting more.

Not all stories hit the same note for me. Revenge of the Wolfen was the only one I didn’t really connect with - mainly because fantasy isn’t my thing. But that’s more about personal taste than any fault in the writing.

Some stories were a little offbeat in the best possible way. Jerry Lost a Toe and A Fish Called Steve were quirky and fun, with just the right length for what they were trying to do. They didn’t overstay their welcome, and they added a bit of variety to the mix.

Overall, Midnights was a really enjoyable read. Even for someone who isn’t usually a fan of short stories, this collection managed to keep me entertained from start to finish. Well worth picking up, whether you're a long-time Beck fan or just looking for a solid set of bite-sized thrillers
