Paradise Lost... (Kate Jones, Book 5)

Kate Jones and her lover, Cole are on a luxury cruise in the Caribbean when a passenger dies of an apparent heart attack and the ship is boarded by modern-day pirates. Along with two other passengers, Kate is kidnapped by a long-lost enemy who wants to settle an old score.

Kate's vacation turns into non-stop action when Anaya's gunmen board the cruise ship and she finds herself on a jet ski surrounded by sharks, kidnapped, held captive, staked down over patch of fast growing bamboo, and drugged in a Voodoo ceremony. Add a 16th century Spanish shipwreck, hidden treasure, and an Obeah priestess and you've got trouble in paradise.

Will Kate escape certain death or end up as shark bait in the middle of the Caribbean?

It's adventure in paradise and promises all the fast-paced action listeners have come to expect from the Kate Jones Thriller Series.

Action adventure

Fun book. Kind of like Clive Cusler's stuff with a little Indiana Jones thrown in. I liked Kate. She's tough and has a good sense of humor. I will look for more in this series.

Another Great Thriller with Kate Jones

What made the experience of listening to Cruising for Death the most enjoyable?

I really liked the reader, she captured the wry humor and down to earth nature of Kate, the heroine. I enjoyed the setting, on a cruise ship and Caribbean island. The synergy between Kate and Cole moved things along.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kate, of course. She is bold, courageous, resourceful, but also human.

What about Melissa Moran’s performance did you like?

She is a very lively reader who really gets her characters right. She obviously appreciates the humor in the book. She does a good job with male and female characters alike.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A pleasure cruise turns into a nightmare.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to the other Kate Jones audio books.

Very Highly Recommended!!!!

I have read several other books in this series and loved each and every one of them. This book did not fail to impress me, I enjoyed it very much. The writing was excellent as allways and I am definitely a fan of the narration...""This story is so fast paced that I was afraid to put it down for fear it would rush on without me!" —Melissa Moran does a great job of narration on the audiobook, giving each of the individuals a unique voice. Her voice is easy to listen to and makes the listening experience a pleasant one.

Finally a longer book!!!

Wow, what a great read!! This book gives you so much more than the others in the series. A simple cruise takes a serious turn for the worse. Boy does that girl find trouble.

Kate and Cole are still together, and seem to be solid. I was really happy with that part of the story. It is about time she found a good man to stay by her side. It isn't about the romance, but it is a nice smidgen of the story.

This book is filled with action and not everyone ends up alive at the end of the tale. Every time you think things are working out, bang something else goes awry. Typical for unlucky Kate.

The whole book is from her POV, it would have been nice to have another perspective. You never know what others are thinking until they tell her. It adds to the suspense, but things are very narrow without knowing what is going on.

We get more of the Anaya story-line, finally getting to what is going on with the Mexico fiasco. There were some unexpected twists there too.

There are times when the story gets jumpy and I had to figure out what was happening. The being knocked out or drugged incidents took a toll at times.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Melissa Moran, who does a great job. She has great energy that moves the story along snagging you up in the action! The accents are great and stay consistent. You never wonder who is speaking. I really enjoy her in the series and hope she stays with the series. I would love to find more of her reads.
